Tim BentonTim has been singing and acting from the age of 14, when he promised my father he’d never even think of a career in performing if he’d just let me buy a folk guitar. Since then Tim has appeared in clubs, cabarets and theatres around his homeland of New Zealand as well as Sydney, Melbourne and Hawaii. I have performed with the New Zealand National Opera company, sung as soloist with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and performed twice for the Governor General, the Queen’s representative in New Zealand.

Since leaving NZ in 2007 he has also performed in London and toured several times around the UK as well as in Ireland.

Musical theatre credits include Prof. Higgins (My Fair Lady), Magaldi (Evita), Pontius Pilate (Jesus Christ Superstar), Julian Marsh (42nd Street). Taking the role of Sydney Carton in the new musical A Tale of Two Cities, (dir. Paul Nicholas), Stage newspaper rated me “spot on” as the world-weary, alcoholic lawyer.

The musical treatments were devised together with Simon Wallace, leading arranger for film and TV (Absolutely Fabulous, Clive James Show) and collaborator with many top UK jazz and cabaret singers including Sarah Moule, Clare Teal, Ian Shaw, Pete Atkin, Gill Manly and Barb Jungr.
