William Martens
William Martens

Martens studied counterpoint, harmony, fuga, composition and film music between 1968 and 1972 with Nadia Boulanger en Darius Milhaud at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris in France. He participated in the 1970 Master Class “Music Concrete” of Pierre Schaeffer. Between 1969 and1978 he was appointed as Music Supervisor/Coordinator and film composer by the French network.

The work of Martens is self-produced, directed and arranged and its musical expression varies from deep avant garde and experimental structures to film – and theater music. His music is vibrant and always spheric says Ineke Tuijten the personal manager and musical director of Willem Martens. Martens brings us transfixing Electronic and Ambient music with lush, symphonic textures that make it equally at home in a Sci-Fi film soundtrack or a meditation setting.

All of his albums were composed and produced by himself and are available in internet shops such as iTunes, Amazon, CD Universe, eMusic and so on.

Martens Ensemble plays his music.
