Emilia Suárez has released her new video for the track titled ‘Timing’. Emilia is actress in the upcoming Hulu musical-comedy series, Up Here, from the director of Hamilton, debuting on March 24th, but, that is not why we are here. We are here for the music. And her music is every bit as promising and hopeful as her rising star in the tv/film industry.

Emilia is a poignant and soulful singer. What’s more, her beautiful and angelic yet weathered and experienced vocals encapsulate perfectly the subtle form of the orchestrated music. This creates a marriage between the artist and her music. A symbiance. Everything belongs and fits in it’s place.

Emilia Suárez shows that she is not so much a force to be reckoned with, but someone who is adding to the universe.

About ‘Timing’

This music video lives between a liminal space and memories; it is a dramatized version of what writing this song was actually like for Suárez. The video captures Suárez truly in the moment and with an unabashed presence, something she hadn’t experienced until she was with this person. Suárez reflects that “I think in this video, we captured that, which makes it all the more painful to know that those two crazy kids just can’t make it! And there’s no real reason or lesson to cling to for why. Some people are just there to teach you that you deserve so much better, and for me, that was really hard to let go of”.

Writing the song was an atypical experience for Suárez, as she didn’t intend to write about this relationship, but it’s the only place her mind wanted to live. “This song is touching a lot on the nature of the relationship and grappling with the inability to move on. It was also designed to call myself out a bit. If I’m actively choosing to relive it, I’m the reason it stays with me. The ‘inability’ is more voluntary than the poets would like to admit,” Suárez expresses.
