Fresh from being named by Classic Rock as one of their ‘Tracks of the Week’ for their previous single, Scottish rock four-piece Estrella are back to make sure the new year is as successful as their last. June 8th sees the release of the title track from their upcoming 2nd album, ‘We Will Go On’, which will be the second single from the album due on June 22nd.
Estrella add a refreshing new feel to the rock genre yet they still remind us of the acts we all love, such as Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Van Halen, AC/DC and Bon Jovi, and it’s little wonder why this searing, unapologetic slice of top quality rock was selected as the next release.
Recently announced to play Download Festival 2015, the bands lead guitarist Luke Gunn commented:
“To say we are delighted is an understatement. We have to thank both Takeover at Download Festival and our loyal #EstrellaWarriors who voted for us on the Download online poll for this amazing opportunity!”
“They are an energetic, melodic band with fantastic stage presence and I am sure they will rock the tent on the night.” says Download Festival’s Heather Gibb.
Some very talented veterans of the rock world have lent their hands to the making of Estrella’s new album with production overseen by Nick Brine (The Darkness, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis), while previous single ‘Here I am’ was recorded at the infamous Rockfield Studios in Wales – the very studios in which Queen recorded ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. John T Sinclair (Uriah Heep, The Cult, Ozzy Osbourne) co-wrote and co-produced the track. Professionals like these are highly sought after for their time, and very picky about who they work with, which speaks volumes about the talent on show in these four rockers from North of the border.
The recordings are carefully calibrated to capture the energy of their bristling live show, one which has seen them become darlings of the festival circuit. It also secured an impressive end to an incredible 2014 when they were asked to tour with ex-Guns n’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke in November, which followed on from a previous run supporting American rocker and UK chart topper Robin Beck. Now May this year will see Estrella provide main support for cult USA Band Enuff Z’Nuff on their 11 night European Tour across 5 different countries.
It all points to a huge 2015 for the band. With a European Tour, major festival appearance, second album due in June 2015 and fans of the band including Classic Rock Magazine and XFM presenter and noted music tastemaker Jim Gellatly along with veteran rock DJ Tom Russell there’s really no telling how far Estrella’s gritty, bombastic take on classic rock can take them.
