Freud stated that “Humans need beauty to survive through difficult times ” and beauty can certainly be found in this song in these difficult times.
Skanger is a duo from Dublin, Ireland consisting of Mark Healy and Colin Morris and ‘Condolences’ is their debut release. Both of their stories began in the late 90s when Colin was a member of Dublin Indie band Sunbear and Mark was a member of Dublin band The Josephs, both bands signed to different UK labels and enjoyed critical acclaim.
Colin would be very influenced by the Shoegaze era with bands like MBV but also Eno and Pendreceki resulting in a passion for ambient Drone composition. Mark, while a Shoegaze fan would be influenced by The Smiths and Joy Division.
Both have composed for TV and Film, Colin worked on the score for the Indie classic ‘Frank’ and Mark has worked on various productions including writing the score for the Irvine Welsh movie NUTS.
Together as Skanger, the guys are working on material that will become a debut album and after this lockdown, they will be ready to get out on the road for some shows.
