Rising soulful singer-songwriter Joel Baker shares the music video for ‘Harder To Fall’ via Virgin EMI today. Produced by Jordan Riley and mixed by Grammy award winning Manny Marroquin (Kayne West, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston), the video for ‘Harder To Fall’ is directed by Daniel Brereton (Bastille, The Vaccines, Gorgon City) and shot on location in Lancaster.
Joel says “Harder to Fall is a song about it becoming harder and harder to fall in love after going through knocks & bruises along the way “I broke my heart and it healed back different”. You put your guard up more “there are four armies in my heart all leading the resistance”, one for each chamber. You start to become desensitized “sad stories on the news don’t move me”. The song is a cry for help to start feeling again and experience that love and emotion that was once so familiar. “
Joel Baker has racked up millions of streams, landed countless places on influential tastemaker playlists and received spot plays from key Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra DJs following the release of his critically acclaimed Bag of Dreams mixtape and The Dreamers EP. Championed by everyone from MistaJam and Huw Stephens through i-D and Clash, to Taylor Swift (who included No One In Heaven in her ‘Songs Taylor Loves’ Spotify playlist), both releases have featured a wealth of hotly tipped collaborators from Tottenham emcee Abra Cadabra to Sneakbo, RK and rising R&B chanteuse Mahalia.
A former Labour Party speechwriter, singer-songwriter, musician, and producer Joel Baker was discovered by Radio 1 bosses after sending his demos into the station in embossed parliamentary envelopes.
Joel’s momentum is set to continue throughout 2018 with a talent that is only just beginning to test its boundaries.
