Mayflower Madame has today released their new video for the single titled ‘Crippled Crow’, the last track dropping before their upcoming album ‘Insight’ comes out on November 1st via Night Cult Records / Up In Her Room / Icy Cold Records.
Mayflower Madame have always had that gritty, dark, and noise infested original sound that brings a slightly snarky crack to the smile when you hear them come through your speakers, whether you pressed play or let the stream go down that rabbit hole. And, even though the band’s debut is only eight years old, there is a history much longer and darker than you may realize and listen to in between the notes. There is sheer originality. The kind that makes them who they are and what they have come to be.
‘Crippled Crow’ has that end of a trilogy, dawn of a new day feeling about it that perfectly sets the stage for the album anticipation audio elation that fans can anticipate and critics expect in music from only the best artists out there. This Mayflower is about to land.
About ‘Crippled Crow’
“Crippled Crow” is the final single from Norwegian band Mayflower Madame’s much anticipated upcoming album Insight. Compared to the preceding tasters, this latest offering further elaborates their signature blend of edgy post-punk and lush shoegaze, adding elements of noise-rock and dark-wave. Fuelled by a commanding, forceful bass line and a vibrant drum beat, it takes you out on an intoxicating ride – from the haunting melodies of the verses through the fierce guitar cascades of the choruses and to the final redemption in the blistering outro.
This is the sound of longing and regret in the frost-ridden streets of Oslo combined with a burning desire for transformation and catharsis. Mayflower Madame’s new album Insight is due for release November 1st followed by a string of UK/EU dates. The first three singles, “A Foretold Ecstasy”, “Paint It All in Blue” and “Never Sever”, have garnered much acclaim and extensive radio support, including airtime on BBC 6 Radio.

About Mayflower Madame
Over the past years, Mayflower Madame has gained a reputation far beyond their hometown of Oslo, Norway. They made their debut with the album Observed in a Dream in 2016, which received rave reviews and earned them tours across Europe and North America, while 2020s long-awaited sequel Prepared for a Nightmare firmly established their position as one of the continent’s most distinctive bands in the psych-gaze genre, infused with 1980s post-punk and dark romanticism.
The covid-19 pandemic hit hard just after their sophomore release, making the title eerily appropriate, but in 2022 Mayflower Madame finally returned touring in the UK, France and Eastern Europe. Last year the band focused on writing and recording new music while also releasing a Deluxe Version of Prepared for a Nightmare featuring five new bonus tracks.
Their upcoming album Insight has been mixed and mastered by renowned Italian engineer Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher, The Vacant Lots) and is promising to be their best release so far. It will be launched November 1st via Night Cult Records (digital), Up In Her Room (vinyl) and Icy Cold Records (CD).
Mayflower Madame is Trond Fagernes (vocals, guitar, bass) and Ola J. Kyrkjeeide (drums). “Crippled Crow” also features contributions from Kenneth Eknes (synth) and Rune Øverby (guitar).
