Rockhampton singer-songwriter troubadours The Short Fall know all about the tyranny of distance in this large, sunburned country and knew that to release and tour their music, they’d have to be something extra special. The two brothers are almost single-minded in their approach to their songwriting and harmonies, their voices mingle with ease and their guitars sing with such ease. Their new EP ‘State of Mind’ is a testament to their focus and their belief in their songs.

Having recently releasing their Single ‘Seasons’, the time has come to release the EP and the filmclip for the single – the filmclip, shot by Living Lens in Byfield, Central Queensland, premiered on The AU review yesterday.

Ryan and Angelo Conway, the brothers from Rockhampton, have crafted a gorgeously pieced-together acoustic EP that takes listeners on an aural holiday in their own mind. Self-Titled track ‘State of Mind’ is another focus track of the EP, with so much heart and a big hook to match.

The ‘State of Mind’ EP was recorded in early 2014 on the Capricorn Coast with producer Anthony Lycenko, who was also at the helm for their debut EP, ‘Make a Move’. Lycenko has previously worked with Pete Murray, Busby Marou and Xavier Rudd. The track was mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th & Vine Post. ‘State of Mind’ takes the best of what contemporaries Boy & Bear, City & Colour and Bob Evans do best and puts a distinctly Queensland touch on it – in such a way that only brothers’ voices can harmonise so damn well.

‘State of Mind’ will be released on 17th October via iTunes and at the tour which will launch 24th October and take in Queensland’s coastline, including Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Maryborough, Brisbane and over the border into Byron Bay.

The pair are garnering a reputation as one of the most anticipated up-and-coming singer/songwriter duos coming out of Queensland, having toured with Busby Marou and played with seasoned and varied artists such as Wendy Matthews, INXS, The Whitlams, Bobby Alu, Gyroscope, Kisschasy and more.

The Short Fall deliver with emotion and sincerity, wowing audiences with their flawless harmonies and unique blend of alternative indie folk.

‘State of Mind’ will be available on iTunes and all good online retailers from Friday October 17. The single, ‘Seasons’ is available on triple j unearthed and for free download from The Short Fall’s website.
