Andrew Morstein is regarded worldwide as a soul-inspired, classically trained vocal powerhouse. During and after college he continues to perform with the noted acapella group, Gentleman’s Rule, on stage and national PBS television shows.
Digging into Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, and the Stax Records of the 60’s and 70’s, Andrew gravitated his passion from Opera (as a Bel canto Tenor) to soul in 2013.
Andrew studied Opera at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he performed in ten-plus opera productions and developed the technique that would lead him to find his brassy tenor sound.
Having self-released (via a very successful KickStarter campaign) a classically driven EP in 2013 (The Runaway EP), Andrew left the studio seeking something different and edgier. At the same time as The Runaway EP was being released, Andrew was signed with SuperStar Records of Nashville.
After two years of experimenting, writing, and recording in Nashville, Andrew and his team hand-selected five songs to feature on his debut EP, Honeybee. In his debut release as a soul artist, Andrew delivers a taste of what will come of his budding career. Honeybee delivers a new sound and brings a pop of edge, color, and heat to the genre, while staying true to dynamics real soul music – delivery, heart, and sweat.
