Forbidden Planet is a 4-piece instrumental band dedicated to boldly exploring the uncharted terrain of genre-bending progressive rock. With an aural salad spanning neo-classical, rock, grunge, jazz, ambient and all shades of metal, Forbidden Planet draws inspiration from the rich and varied musical history of our species to dredge the depths of the subconscious and call upon the Monsters from the Id.
Forbidden Planet’s debut album “From the Bedroom to Oblivion: Two Decades of Obscurity”. Released in October 2015, the album has recieved glowing reviews both locally in Singapore and abroad. Chris Ang, writing for one of Asia’s most loved online magazines, Bandwagon included the album in the Industry picks for ‘Best Albums of 2015’ calling it a “hidden gem”.
U.K. music blog site, Ready To Rock wrote “Forbidden Planet balance musical and compositional excellence, with just enough mystery to keep us coming back for more. This is an excellent album that I unhesitatingly recommend for prog rock and guitar fans in general”. Radio Heatwave, one of Singapore’s largest internet radio station said, “The album is by far the best balancing act since Joseph Gordon Levitt in The Walk, as at no point in the album does one invade the musical space of the other, and the most prime example of this in the album would have to be its musical apex, “Put On The Suit”. Online Music magazibe Moshin Mag posted, “a solid and thoroughly impressive debut album with balanced sounds and powerful instrumental skills”.
