With the release of the New Light album, Summer Dwellers brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with addicting guitar hooks, soulful vocals, and a pop rock attitude, the record boasts the aesthetic of alt rock anthems. Though songs are diverse form one another, there is a glue that holds it all together much like a concept album would. Most importantly, the record never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.
The first single, “Best In Me” is an upswing indie classic. Complete with a huge chorus and a dance like atmosphere, the songs breathes as it plays on.
“’Best In Me’ is a song about relationship loss and not having the choice in the matter. Love is a two person game and won’t be played unless both parties play fair. The songs positive tone of Best In Me reflects New Light as it discusses an issue but turns it around and realizes the positive as does the rest of the songs,” explains bassist Scott Miller of the bands single.
Although the single speaks volumes for the album, to get a real understanding of where Summer Dwellers is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.

After the breakup of their previous band Scott Miller and Kail Landsborough decided we would still write together. Working to put together a solid line up, the two found players to help the band take shape all around. It was then that Summer Dwellers was born. The bands first EP Ready For Life was released soon after. Once the EP was released, they immediately went back to the drawing board to start work on the New Light album. With the recent addition of Matthew Zelich the bands dynamic changed for the better. Plenty of vocal practice and harmony work made for a great group of recordings and the band has already started work on the third effort.
“With the New Light album having a fresh member makes a world of difference not only in the sound but how the songs came together. Matthew has a great ear and pushes the vocal work to the next level. Ready for life was also recorded mainly directly in and new light used an array of different mics making the sound much thicker,” says vocalist and guitarist Kail Landsborough of the bands evolution in songwriting.
Having already played the stages of plenty of venues and some festivals in the great Manitoba area, along with having singles played on CBC Radio in Winnipeg, the band is certainly not new to the live scene.
The New Light album is now available for streaming and download on most major digital outlets and the band is planning a small tour around Winnipeg along with more future dates in support of their release.
