- No Sleep Summer Payton 2:35
Summer Payton is an R&B singer, songwriter, musician and producer from Chicago, Illinois. Surrounded by music from an early age, Summer picked up the piano by ear and learned from her father, a musician in the church. A childhood of being bullied and fat shamed led her to pick up her pen and write through her pain as well as start composing music to go along with her lyrics. Her musical journey led her to New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, where she grew as a performing artist and fully developed her artistry. Summer has been described as an “old soul” because of her musical influences.
The sounds of Motown and her Gospel infused upbringing combined with the 90’s R&B she fell in love with, drive her sound. She sings songs of independence, self-love and female empowerment. At the age of 17, she met Grammy Award winning, music producer, Rance Dobson of the legendary band, 1500 or Nothin’ who recognized her early talents and told her to take time and hone her craft at NYU then bring them back to the school he was planning, now known as the 1500 Sound Academy. She did just that and now her time at 1500 Sound Academy has helped her round out her skills and experience to include engineering and music production.
Summer is a gifted songwriter and she produces R&B, Pop, Hip Hop and Trap music. As an artist, she’s performed in multiple cities including Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Berlin. Currently Summer is working towards the completion of her debut EP, entitled THE GOLDEN HOUR, to be released on her golden birthday, December 25th.
