March 16th, 2018 sees the release of Birds Of Hell’s new single ‘I Love Saturday Night’; a scummy ode to nights on the town. Birds Of Hell is the work of Pete Murdoch. He comes from the Norwich Electronic Indie scene that recently brought us Sink Ya Teeth and Let’s Eat Grandma. Pete is a former member of Sargasso Trio who signed to Tummy Touch, released recordings in the UK, Europe, USA, and Japan as well as doing numerous live sessions for BBC 6 Music.

Living up to Norfolk’s reputation for the odd and unsettling, Murdoch’s previous work has used samples of his dead relatives singing and playing on songs about dogging and growing up in Watford. Other subjects include kidnap, shamanic spirit animals and being eaten by snakes.

In Autumn 2017 Birds Of Hell did his first UK tour, had plays on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music and Resonance named an entire show after one of his songs. His single Astronomy Programmes was single of the week in The 405.

” The song is a kind of bliss, like part of a Summer morning when it’s cold enough for a jumper but you can feel the sun’s warmth starting to break through”.

His first single Boa gained a few notable fans:

“Fucking love this single, really amazing stuff”
– Tim ‘Love’ Lee ( Tummy Touch)

“Like this a lot…warped beyond the call of duty..dark and Balearic goodness that reminds me a little of Black Sabbath’s Planet Caravan”
– Jon Tye ( Lo Recordings)

“Birds Of Hell is consistently bloody great; thoughtful, considered, intelligent and beautifully crafted”
– Outline Magazine
