On October 19th Cambridge, UK band The Abstracts released their new single “Smells Like Summer” to the masses. I have to tell you that the music coming from the UK as of late (at least the music Jammerzine is getting) is really getting me hyped about the Indie scene in general. This song takes me back to the days of The Clash, Madness, Dexys Midnight Runners and all those other British bands that exploded onto the scene that I listened to as a precocious and musically curious 7 year old basking in the summer Indiana sun watching the latest episode of The Young Ones on MTV and thinking “England must be the coolest place in the world.”.
“Smells Like Summer” has all of those elements that bring me back to that magical time with a modern flare that can only be true Indie.

About The Abstracts:
The Abstracts have established themselves as one of the must-see acts on the Cambridge music scene. Formed in 2013, the band consists of Felix Morgan (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Ben Taylor (Guitar/B.Vocals), Ben Nunn (Bass/B.Vocals), and Mark Thomson (Drums). With regular shows at popular London and Cambridge venues, the band have been nominated for best local Indie band 2 years in a row and had 2 tracks in Cambridge 105’s Unsigned Chart for the maximum of 20 weeks.
Other recent ventures have included a televised performance, a BBC Introducing session and 2 sold-out shows on the main stage of The Cam. They’ve supported the likes of Nik Kershaw, Scouting for Girls, Dodgy and Mark Morris from The Bluetones.
