The President of Pop has premiered his new single titled ‘Word Nerd’. Within it’s own style contained in an enigma wrapped in a riddle, TPOP delves into obscure hooks and alien rhythms with such an originality there is no idiom or conclusion to draw. Yet, it works. And works perfectly. This may actually be its own style self invented. New Alt-Wave perhaps? Synth-Crave maybe? Only the future can tell, and The President of Pop is already there.
About The President of Pop
The President of Pop hails from Asteroid P-420, the dimmest star you’re likely to find (at least on those nights you’re most likely to look.) He shares his tiny, lonely, planet with the great-great- granddaughter of The Little Prince’s rose.
The President of Pop came to Earth in search of a dream he once had of the Most Perfect Song Ever. He feels sure that if he collaborates with the Earth’s finest musicians, dancers, film-makers, and artists, his dream will return in its original fiery glory. As he’s accustomed to the 17 & 1/2 minute days of Asteroid P-420, our Most Glorious President of Pop is never fully awake, by Earth standards. But in the dreamy space in which he lives, songs pop into His Excellency’s mind with the rapidity of firefly blinks on a hot summer’s night.

About ‘Word Nerd’
I went with my friend to her school library during the lockdown. They DID open it up. You had to make an appointment, though. When we finally got there…YOU COULDN’T TOUCH THE BOOKS! (They might be dirty!!) So, I sat there, and thought and thought (and dreamed and dreamed as I fell asleep….) And woke up with this song in my head: “Word Nerd”.
We broke into the library at three in the morning, a few weeks later, to film this. 😀 (A friend worked there, so, not exactly breaking in…) And now from The President of Pop’s imagination into your eyes and ears…. The point of all The President of Pop’s stuff is to remind you to “live more”, and “‘internet’ less”….This is why, at least for now, this song–Word Nerd–is not even on Spotify or whatever (just the P.o.P’s own site, PopMusic.com, at least for now….) because we don’t want to encourage people to wade in the filthy waters of algorithms, corporate AI controlling artistic decisions (i.e. algos recommending songs), all of which helps kill your imagination, intuition, and inspiration (the three “I”s!) *** THE 3 Is *** There’s a spirit that moves people to do great things…the spirit comes through imagination, intuition, and inspiration (3 things that algos slaughter)… Not that Word Nerd is a “great thing”, exactly…(or, then again, maybe it is!)… So there!
