Cork-based scuzz-pop-come-indie-rock quartet The Love Buzz share the new single ‘Pretty Happy Alone’, taken from their hotly anticipated upcoming EP ‘no different’ (April 19th).

Building a reputation for their infectious songwriting, melodies, and energetic performances, the band has established themselves on an international scale. Released following their UK tour with fellow Irish breakouts NewDad, the band is capitalising on the hype surrounding their infectious guitar-led sound including support.

The new single ‘Pretty Happy Alone’ showcases the band’s signature blend of hyper-caustic pogo punk and timeless pop sensibilities in a fuzzy, vibrantly catchy, and infectious energetic soundscape. Built around a wall of bright guitars, tight drums, and driving bass, the track captures the sense of fun and high-octane joy that characterises the band’s sound. Topped with the urgent, charismatic lead vocal, ‘Pretty Happy Alone’ also captures a biting sarcasm and an undertone of melancholy in its lyricism. An uncanny balance of euphoric indie with garage rock while still retaining a fluorescent commercial edge.

Talking about the track, the band explains: “‘Pretty Happy Alone’ is my attempt at a breakup song. Taking the name of the song from two of our favorite Cork bands, Pretty Happy and Happy Alone, we put together a bitter song about regret and coming to terms with independence. Again, this song was written in a flash, and we just kept everything the way it was made the day it came together. We try not to change anything that happens in the first hour of a song being written. We’re not sure if we ripped off John Prine in this one, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”

Produced by renowned recording, mixing, and mastering engineers Chris Somers, along with Sarah and Brian Casey, the upcoming EP ‘No Different’ delivers a collection of tracks that are true to the band’s live sound while also capturing a tight, intoxicating likability.

The Love Buzz have already gained a whole host of high-profile coverage from press and radio alike with support from the likes of Radio X, BBC Radio 6 Music, Hot Press, DIY, Clash Magazine, and RTE, to name just a few. Renowned for their live shows, electrifying performances at prestigious venues and festivals such as Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, and Eurosonic, the band continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Having already opened for The Darkness, the quartet is also set to open for NewDad across their upcoming UK tour dates.
