The Ten Year Program is a project brought to fruition by two longtime friends and musical partners. Ian Richards who produced, engineered, wrote, and recorded the music, and Jack McCracken who sings on all the songs.
Having a wide range of musical influence, including bands like Glassjaw, Deftones, and Far, helped lay the stepping stones for some of the music while others like Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, and even early Jimmy Eat World and Pearl Jam push through as more melodic counterpoints from vastly different genres.

This project marks the first time both artists could write and record without the constraints of most small record deals. With Richards at the helm producing and engineering, TYP find their sound on their debut EP.

The songs sound big, they’re meant to; the arrangements are fleshed out and McCracken’s lyrics and vocal style add a passionately thought-provoking layer with his unique take on pop sensibility, fueled by lyrics riddled in love, anger, and existential crisis.

“TYP doesn’t sound like any other band, Yes, it’s an alternative rock of some scope, but ultimately it’s our musical vision as artists; it’s our unique take on alternative rock.”, says Richards about creating the record

Ambien Wet Dreams, the first single, marks the most pop-oriented song on the EP. With an up-tempo vocal hook that features TYP’s signature layered guitars and ambient synth atmospheres, Ambien’s song length crescendo is just a hint at what’s to come.
