The Violet Fire has one sole member with a revolving door of guest musicians. All of the songs are written and produced by Matthew Ryan who also records most of the instruments himself. Working out of a beat up, a low budget studio in Lexington, KY, Matthew plugs away with scraps in an attempt to make music that connects with its listeners.

The latest album, The Apologist, offers a more extreme example of what’s been dubbed “Mixtape Rock” which offers a mix of heavy rock songs, upbeat folk, powerful ballads, and beyond. You’ll tap your feet, you’ll feel all warm and fuzzy, then you’ll get plastered to the wall. There’s something for everybody here.
