ShareTweet Having lived in a variety of places over Europe and the United States, musical collective ‘Yo’ has had a vast array of influences to draw upon which contributed to his upcoming debut album. Currently based in the birthplace of soul and jazz in New Orleans, the brains behind ‘Yo’ has clearly been inspired by his surrounding areas within his writing, as well as indie-bands such as Kasabian and the Arctic Monkeys, not to mention the incredibly influential Oasis who have provided a canvas for an entire generation of music, thus creating a fresh yet unique sound. Despite being a newcomer on the music scene, ‘Yo’ has written and recorded an entire album as a creative outlet, cultivating and honing his sound and style to perfection. Each song on the album is an artistic demonstration of creative talent, boasting an individual sound using a mixture of intricate guitar chords, the latest technology and studio effects. However the promised constant is the distinctive sound of Andre’s original vocals, making the innovative young artist impossible to pigeonhole and making him all the more memorable. Produced with listener’s at the forefront of his mind, ‘Yo’ wanted to make music that can be enjoyed at chilled out festivals, played in pubs and clubs or used as an escape from everyday trials and tribulations, and he’s certainly succeeded in catering for all. A love of travel has directly influenced the writing, and the style in which he has written the songs featuring on the album allows the listener to travel with him, joining him on his musical journey. However he remains allusive and mysterious, his music being his preferred method of communication. ‘It Only Matter’s When You Think’ is the first single due for release from the album, with heavy drums, soaring guitar riffs and laid-back vocals that wouldn’t sound out of place on a ‘Kerrang!’ playlist, this track is bound to make a positive impact on any would-be fans. With his main focus on the audience’s experience and how his songs will sound live as opposed to generating fans through the medium of mainstream pop, ‘Yo’ is an exciting new force to be reckoned with in the music industry. The exciting 13 track album ‘Vagrancy’ is due for release April 27th, expect heavy drums with an electro-indie twist.
