The Sunset Strip is a long way from the balmy environs of Townsville, Australia, but that is where you’ll find the new kid on the block: Andy The Kid. ATK is on a roll in Australia with his song ‘Cowboys Evolution (Rise Up)’ being used as the North Queensland Cowboys theme song in their advertising and their home games – and now he is returning to his homeland with the single & videoclip and an East Coast capital city tour. The track features ex-Juke Kartel member Toby Rand on vocals.

From Queensland pubs to the bright lights of Hollywood, ATK has spent decades honing his craft and this year will see him finally release his solo album. The Townsville-born metalhead moved to Los Angeles in early 2008 with a suitcase, a bass guitar, and big dreams – and ended up touring with Static-X in 2012.

The Static-X shows led to ATK playing bass for founding member Wayne Static in ’13 and ’14, when he took his career solo. These shows led to yet another American tour, this time filling in for Chicago natives DOPE.

Andy The Kid will now bring his unique perspective and show to Australia with his tracks, Static-X, We Are the Riot and DOPE songs all being featured in the show. Fronting the band will be Benjamin Hatch (Full Devil Jacket, Vessel 33) and the tour will visit the iconic Espy in Melbourne, the hip-as-fuck Spectrum in Sydney and the vibing New Globe Theatre in Brisbane in late May.

We Are the Riot has started recording a new album with Ulrich Wild (Pantera, Static-X, Dethklok, Deftones) but with band mates Meegs Rascon and Mikal Cox also busy working on the new Coal Chamber record, Andy The Kid has branched out, writing and recording his solo debut and it is also being produced by Ulrich Wild.

“WATR is still my priority and focus, however with the boys doing Coal Chamber, the Andy The Kid record gives me a project that is uniquely mine,” he said.

The Andy The Kid album is currently being recorded at Lavish Studios in Los Angeles, produced by Rocco Gaurino (Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland, We Are The Riot) – with its full release due in Spring. Visit http://www.andythekid.com for more details on the tour and releases.
