The Attic Movement has released their new single titled ‘Truth Be Told’. A beautiful slow breath with an eloquent flair and a somber, orchestral sound, The Attic Movement gives a moving and haunting performance that grabs the attention and holds the heart beautifully.

About The Attic Movement

The story begins in the dusty converted loft of a terraced house nestled amongst the famous green hills of Sheffield. Beneath the changing aspect of a skylight window, songwriter, Matt Williams, would sit for hours trying to reignite his creative flame. In a last-ditch attempt to recover his muse, he challenged himself to pen one song a day for a month. The inspiration ebbed and flowed like the changeable Spring weather, but finally, after 30 days, he emerged with a book of hopeful sketches – the beginnings of something new.

Teaming up with Grammy Award-winning engineer, Chris Wilkinson, the pair set about transforming scratchy lo-fi demo recordings into fully formed productions. A band of experienced musicians was assembled and work began on laying the foundations for what would become the first three singles. Keeping things close to home, the core parts were tracked live at Tesla studios, with overdubs being recorded at Fox Den Studios – both in Sheffield.

Although most attention was channeled into readying their debut material for release, the band still managed to play a handful of well-received live shows. Their first outing was playing alongside fellow Sheffield band LIO at a sold-out Record Junkee, followed by opening sets for Sir Was and Pictish Trail. Their debut single – ‘Leave The Car’ – was released in May 2019. The track received multiple spins on BBC Introducing Sheffield and Amazing Radio, with Local Sound Focus calling it “a fantastically written song that has been arranged and played so beautifully”.

Their follow up – ‘Warm Light of Your Love’ – was a heartfelt ballad about the amnesia of love. Already a solid fan favorite, the song’s “ massive guitars ” and “ emotional depth ”, resonated with reviewers and playlists alike. ‘Truth Be Told’ is the final track in this series of singles and was released on the 8th of May.
