ShareTweet When I first heard that The Vendettas were coming out with a new single, I was enthralled, to say the least. We actually named them one of the ‘Best of the Year‘ a few years ago with their 2015 release titled ‘Bystander and Destroyer‘. And now they are back with a vengeance, or ‘vendetta’ if you will, with their new track ‘Slinging Mud‘. The band is somewhat different now, with the transformation into a four-piece, but, the music has evolved. More raucous and raw in sound and epic in scope, The Vendettas really pack a lot of sonic bliss into the new music in every conceivable and pleasurable way. ‘Slinging Mud’ is a more mature track in that the songwriting has clearly evolved, but what really impressed me was how they retain that energy they’ve always had while evolving into their current form. That is truly a feat for the experienced. And, in my opinion, lays claim to the fact that The Vendettas aren’t just back, but back for good. About The Vendettas The Vendettas are back with another edition of their unique brand of rock n roll! Introducing a new 4-piece line-up (notably the welcome addition of Rick V on drums) the band has successfully molded themselves into a new beast altogether. Embracing this dynamic, their songwriting prowess has gone to a new level in the process. Known for their signature tones and influences from the likes of Stone Temple Pilots, The Black Crowes, and subtle hints at times of The Rolling Stones (‘Exile On Main Street’), the band spent the better part of a year writing and tightening the screws in preproduction to hit the studio late 2018, subsequently live to track their upcoming 3rd album and capturing the raw energy they deliver on stage. The first single ‘Slinging Mud’ is a salute to The Vendettas early days, cutting their teeth on beer-soaked walls of Melbourne’s rock scene night after night, with all dials cranked to 11. Straight up rock n roll, the way it should be.
