1. Son of Go Three Dimensional Tanx 1:50

Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated new album ‘Attack’, Three Dimensional Tanx return with an immediately infectious single ‘Son of Go’, and at just 1 minute 52 seconds long, not a second is wasted in this energetic statement of intent. A driving beat, intricate organ line, huge guitars, and a commanding vocal combine to create one of the most memorable and accessible psych tracks of recent years.

The band hold a unique place in the hearts of fans of psychedelia. Stalwarts of the scene, over the course of their career to date the Lancaster/Manchester based Three Dimensional Tanx have been ‘sound carriers’ for Can man Damo Suzuki, performed at Tate Britain with artist Linder Sterling, played at a Spacemen 3 art exhibition at the request of Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, Dead Skeletons) and smashed it at 2013’s Liverpool Psych Fest.

Their live reputation is so fierce they managed to draw a full crowd at Liverpool Psych Fest even though their set clashed with Fuzz and Hookworms. The band have also played with the likes of Aquaserge (featuring members of Tame Impala and Stereolab), the Oscillation, Mugstar, Nik Turner (Hawkwind), Trembling Bells, the Lucid Dream, the Cosmic Dead, Helicon, Mind Mountain, Keys, Pusher, Paddy Steer and many more.

Formed in the year 2000, the original line-up of Spacey, Loz, Sean and David recorded two albums and a compilation before former guitarist David Blackwell left to concentrate full-time on the Lovely Eggs. Richard and Pete joined to complete the new five piece line up and Three Dimensional Tanx set about creating new music for a new era.

January 2014 saw the release of a new, eponymous album, with a gig featuring the full album played straight though recorded and released as Three Dimensional Tanx LIVE! in July 2014. New studio album, ‘Attack’ is released on 29th August 2016, ‘Son of Go’ is the first single to come from that record.

“‘I Am Go’ has an element of the punkier end of Italian garage acts of the early ’90s and newer Swedish acts like The Movements in its soaring pace, cheese wire organ and distraught vocalisms… The Tanx aren’t aiming at being super sixties or anything – rather, they mix up a number of influences and blast it out.”
Jon ‘Mojo’ Mills, Shindig! Magazine

“Even in the studio, the band are able to cook up a pretty vigorous groove, especially on ‘King of the Country’, where organ, bass and drums lock together while a raw guitar is let loose.
You can almost see the hippies digging it in the Avalon Ballroom. In a more relaxed mode, the seven minutes plus of ‘Caterpillar’ moves from a vaguely Indian introduction of tabla and sitar to break into a crisp beat, supporting the interplay of wah-wah and synth and setting up something of a Happy Mondays or Stone Roses feel.”
Penny Black Music

“Yes they do psychedelic but they do it differently. They do it with energy. Hard to put into words, a spirit (in my humble opinion) that only those from the Northern part of this country can provide. Juice; life; pep; pizzaz. That buzz in the tummy; cock of the head; jerk as you walk. They don’t need me to sell them to you. They sell themselves. As you may may be able to tell I think they are exciting! I want a Three Dimensional Tanx T-shirt!”
Schott’s List

“A kind of neon psychedelic power pop with really bright, clear tones…when they’re blasting them out hard, fast and dumb they sure do know their way around a pop tune.”
Norman Records

“A unique voice in psych; Lancaster’s Three Dimensional Tanx pitch ‘60s swirling keys against garage rock and the Day-Glo end of the punk spectrum. Picture The Saints shooting for the Nuggets crowd. Combine a heady knack for blending energy with melody they have delivered a crisp, taut and exciting album in the same glorious TV21 Technicolor as the cover art.”
