DJ W!LD Announces New Album

After a two year hiatus from full length album production, Parisian-born Circoloco favourite and DC10 resident DJ W!LD catapults himself back into the heady realm of studio creativity with his forthcoming LP ‘When You Feel Me’, clocking in at no less than an eye watering 27 tracks.

With this aptly named LP, W!LD demands your attention, narrating his story through a series of juxtaposing genres, and complex cuts. Heavy beats and warm vocals call as an alluring invitation, his tracks offering laidback disco-fringed grooves and gradual build ups that portray his assiduous attention to detail, and betray a melancholic depth that bubbles consistently under the surface. The textured patterns of ‘Rue De Paradis’ offer a nod to his Parisian underground roots, whilst the softer Balearic notes in ‘Quand Tu Te Touches’ leave the listener in no doubt that W!LD has truly bared his soul.

Both CDs present a tug of war between genres. W!LD blends disco with tech house before teetering on the edge of big room techno with heavyweight basslines: “I just have a very creative flow at the moment’, W!LD explains. “The current double album is reflecting my more housey, sexy, summer side on one part, and a darker techno sound on the other…”

Never lacking in creative composition, he continues to stray away from the unexpected, injecting poignant chords with the electricity he conjures on DC10’s Terrace as a Circoloco resident. W!LD’s career continues to flourish, and ‘When You Feel Me’ brilliantly encompasses the ever-evolving sound of this enigmatic Parisian.

U.K. Indie Artist Lizzie Jane Releases New Single September 5th

Following up from her debut EP ‘Monster’ Lizzie is saying exactly what she thinks with her new single ‘I Don’t Think So’. Mixing the qualities of classic British female pop with her rebellious attitude, Lizzie sings about today’s pop culture and how she doesn’t want to follow the crowd.

There are two versions of the song available. A version that is acceptable for daytime radio and a slightly more risky version for those that can handle it!

Lizzie’s usual stripped back acoustic sound has been beefed up with a classy arrangement and clever production and it makes for a catchy tune filled with intelligent and cheeky lyrics.

The single is available to listen to below:

There is also a launch party at Sound Control in Manchester on the 5th of September tickets are £5 and available here: http://www.soundcontrolmanchester.co.uk/events/lizzie-jane/

    Naylor’s Notes: Sky Burnt White

It won’t take long for you to be hooked on this band for life!!! Their energy will suck you in like the eye of a hurricane, and leave you craving for more!!! Check out what their lead singer has to say.

When did you start your band?
Sky Burnt White really got its start in 2011. I was in two other bands at the time (Sicklove and Stone Dog Diaries.) We had made some home studio demos for the hell of it. I ended up showing them to a good friend of mine and got the opportunity to make some extra money creating background music for a local production that houses various projects.

I took it upon myself to learn all I could about the recording process, and in turn created even more original songs using drum loops, but playing all the instruments and building the effects for the songs. After building a library of music to choose from I recruited some of my closest friends to help me piece the music together for the live show. Now we are finally ready to bring it to everyone.

    Which instruments do you play?
In Sky Burnt White I sing and play guitar.

Describe your music interests and abilities.
One of my older brothers Jason had both a trumpet, and a drum set from my earliest memories. When I was little I remember being fascinated by the drums in particular, and always enjoyed when he would let me beat around on his from time to time.

I inherited both of those instruments from him, and learned to play both by being mostly forced too throughout high school and in church. I was a pastor’s kid, and pretty much filled in wherever was necessary. Looking back now I do appreciate it, and I have to say I did pay my parents back with plenty of what I’m sure were awful hours of long drumming sessions in the basement.

I would play entire albums through headphones until I could play the whole thing through. I always knew I could sing but didn’t really know anyone thought I was good at it until I put out, an add on the internet looking for musicians to put a band together.

I had written notebooks full of lyrics and put 110% of my attention to singing. Over the years after an early band I was in broke up, I was left to start over from scratch. I was faced with the fact that I would either have to learn how to play guitar and sing, or I would have to rely on everyone else for the rest of my music career.

Having people to rely on is great, but only when there are people there. So I literally did nothing for about a year but go to work, drink whiskey, and play guitar for about five hours a day in a garage. Everything I play I have learned to play on my own, and by ear.

    What famous musicians inspire you?
I’ve been tremendously inspired by a few different musicians in particular. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Lajon Witherspoon, and Clint Lowry from Sevendust, MJK of Tool and A Perfect Circle, Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, Chino Moreno of Deftones, Daniel Johns of Silverchair, and the list goes on. One of the biggest of these is a guy named Jeff Buckley. Not enough people know who that Is, and that’s a damn shame. We are currently covering a song of his called “Forget Her” in our set. It’s actually a big deal for me that we are doing that. His music really has impacted my writing and helped me through a lot of things in life.

What is some of your best musical memories? Say at your house or in your neighborhood.
I’ve had a lot of good times playing music. I’ve also had to sleep on blacktop next to a trailer in Amarillo Texas in the summer because our van had broken down. It’s funny how those memories are actually fun to joke about when you get through them :). I’d have to say one of the best memories I have was a night with a band I was in, had booked a show at a biker bar without realizing it was a biker bar. One of the bands didn’t show up. I ended up having to fill time by opening the show acoustically.

After the first song, the place actually went nuts, and I ended up watching the sun come up with the owner of the place after we drank the entire bar under the table. It was crazy! Some of my favorite early memories were when I was fresh out of high school, and promoters our age would rent out halls in small towns, and we would pack the place with people. We really had a lot of fun at those shows. The people cared about the music and we were “ALL” intense about practice and playing our hearts out at every show.

What would you say to beginning musicians, who are nervous?
Do everything you can to be either a wanted commodity and/or self-sufficient. You won’t get there by doing nothing. If you are serious then get your ass into the garage and pound on those drums for 3 hours a night. Go buy a guitar and start writing your own music. You probably aren’t going to write a bad ass tune in your first go around, but that’s how you grow. You have to force yourself to do it even when you don’t really feel like doing it. Put your heart into a song you are writing and finish it. Then keep writing songs while you are consistently practicing and go back to your old ideas after three months of that regiment. It’s something I do and is a great way to see results in your own abilities, as well as point out areas where you can improve yourself. Most importantly be honest with yourself and don’t half ass it.

How do you balance your music with your family and friends?
Most of my friends are musicians or are involved with music in some kind of way. Outside of that I surround myself with people that understand music comes first with me. I am miserable without it and I can’t control that. Thankfully I have been blessed with friends that respect that and a family that doesn’t really get it. I have chosen music every time over so many things, because I feel like if someone actually knows who I am and loves me for that they wouldn’t ask me to give it up.

Should we be expecting anything new to be released?
We are releasing a 13 track studio album “Exit Strategies” this fall, but will be releasing two singles from the album in September. I am very excited about this album as it has literally been a yearlong process to finally choose the studio it would be completed at and start recording. We are 10 songs deep with 3 to go as of right now and we’ll be wrapping those up this month. I have poured my heart and soul into this music and it means more than I can explain that we’re finally about to get these songs out there. As of now you can find a few tunes on our Facebook and Reverb nation pages that we released last Winter.

L.A. Metal Scene Gets Documentary Series

The early ’80s metal scene in Los Angeles has become legendary, as it spawned such worldwide headliners as Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Dokken, W.A.S.P., and originally, Metallica (before the latter relocated to San Francisco). And the new documentary, ‘Inside Metal: Pioneers of L.A. Hard Rock & Metal,’ chronicles the entire scene.

Directed by Bob Nalbandian and produced by Metalrock Films, ‘Inside Metal’ features all-new interviews with countless bands and artists that thrived on the scene, and tell its story, first hand. To ensure that this killer documentary receives the attention it deserves, a fundraising campaign has been set up at WWW.METALROCKFILMS.COM – which will help strengthen the film’s distribution, marketing and promotion.

This groundbreaking movie features exclusive and candid interviews with members of Metallica (Lars Ulrich), Ratt (Stephen Pearcy), Dokken (Don Dokken), Quiet Riot (Carlos Cavazo), W.A.S.P. (Chris Holmes), Megadeth (David Ellefson), Great White, (Jack Russel), Y&T, (Dave Meniketti), Stryper (Michael Sweet) and Armored Saint (Joey Vera).

‘Inside Metal’ is about giving fans the real inside story from the behind the scenes world of metal and hard rock with in-depth interviews, ultra-rare concert footage and photographs, and an original music score from that era; in this no-holds-barred, never before seen, recollection of untold stories.

Early feedback has been exceptional, including renowned video director Jonas Åkerlund (who has worked with the likes of Metallica and Ozzy) raving, “This film captures an era that catapulted metal into the spotlight and takes the audience on a wild ride down memory lane. After watching it I wanted to get in my time machine and experience those days for the first time. You’re hit with a potent nostalgia, a time I thought we couldn’t get back, not until I saw this film. I can’t get enough of this shit, what an amazing film to watch over and over again, well done!”

Metalrock Films ask – and want – real and serious metal fans to be a part of this historic documentary and spread the word that this was the scene where it all began, ground zero.

“Our Fanbacked campaign will raise the direly needed financial support to bring this film to one and all in the US and Internationally in order to pay for the marketing and promotion to get it noticed by the general public. We want to bring this film to your theatre, town, bar, club and living room! Unite and support us. We have created some one of a kind opportunities for our friends and fans to participate with us in birth of this film. Get your name on the screen and let the world know that you support metal and the bands that create it. Help us tell the story of the music you love and let the world know you love it. Join in the festivities of our, and your, accomplishments by being at the premiere of the movie and interact with the artist that participated in its creation. Commemorate your participation with a plaque, t-shirt, poster or other limited edition merchandise items that says ‘Metal Rules.’ Keep checking back as we add more tasty premiums.”

And thanks to you and your donation, ‘Inside Metal’ will finally get the true story of the scene heard – worldwide!

New Documentary Shares Stories of Holocaust Survivors

Growth Media Productions announces the release of the documentary “Voices of the Holocaust,” to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Poland. The film features interviews with nine Holocaust survivors recounting their stories of heartbreak and hope through the dark days of World War II.

“To the current generation, World War II is ancient history,” says executive producer Darla Gaige. “It is something that they read about in their history books, but isn’t real to them. Seeing these individuals, hearing their stories, changes that. It takes it out of the realm of abstract and makes it real and personal to them. And with the trend of denial of the Holocaust, and the dwindling number of Holocaust survivors, it is important that these stories be remembered.”

“This was one of the hardest films I have ever done, but also one of the most fulfilling,” says Clint Gaige, executive producer of the documentary. “I look at my kids, and can’t imagine what it must have been like to have your childhood marked by one of the most tragic events in human history. And while their stories are heartbreaking, I have never seen a more inspiring group of individuals.”

Voices of the Holocaust is currently airing on numerous public television stations across the country, and Growth Media has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help raise funds to provide DVDs of the documentary to schools and libraries at no cost. You can help share these stories with students across the country by visiting http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/voices-of-the-holocaust/x/8523825

Voices of the Holocaust will be available on Amazon.com in September. A preview of the documentary can be found below

Dmitry Nechaev’s ‘Memory’ Comes Back October 29th

His latest single, due on October 29th, gives you a glimpse of what’s to come:

The single, recorded ‘as live’, is part of a larger collaborative project, stringing together a host of ‘Unstaged’ music videos to create a tightly woven plot. It’s an unusual way to release a single, but Dmitry has never done things the ordinary way.

Having toured the world while working as a model, his journey into the music industry started proper in 2008 when he won ‘Best Vocalist of the Year’ in a contest held between the leading music colleges and institutes of Moscow followed by debut album Ignis Fatuus release. For a time, he continued to work as a model, but has recently decided to make the transition to full time musician and songwriter.

Talented and creative in many fields – art, philosophy, music, writing, dance – Dmitry is an artist who will continue to work towards a career he believes to be his destiny. He is also a huge supporter of using his gifts to help others – several years ago taking part in a Moscow charity concert aimed at raising money to buy surgical equipment for Morozovsky Children’s Hospital. Being part of an event like that let him know he was on the right path, and he has not looked back since.

Meet Carshenah W. Jefferson: Co-Host of Road to Destiny

    Carshenah W. Jefferson
    Carshenah W. Jefferson

Carshenah Jefferson is no stranger to the limelight. She’s been on both the big and small screen and everywhere in between. And now, beginning September 1st at midnight and noon US Eastern, she can be heard every week cohosting and cohorting with Peter Pahor on Road to Destiny on JammerStream One, the online radio show that will document the selection and recording process for the Another Destiny Project recording venture.

Check out the in depth interview above we did with Carshenah and stay tuned because next week is the launch of Road to Destiny!

    About Carshenah:
Carshenah W. Jefferson was born in Gainesville, but raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Her southern roots cultivated her talents and brought out a genuine southern belle who dreamed of making it big. This rambunctious young lady was always considered the class clown and the most likely to succeed in whatever it is she was doing. As an only child, Carshenah found acting as her number one outlet to be her biggest blessing. Gifted in a variety of athletics, dancing, music, linguistics and computers, acting was her first love. She put all of her talents to use. In her last year of undergraduate studies at Florida State University, Carshenah studied abroad in Florence, Italy, which changed her view of performance theatre on a global stage.

Carshenah continued on with her education receiving a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of Florida. Carshenah moved to New York immediately after landing her very first professional acting and modeling job for Mattel, Inc. as a Barbie Doll named Simone during their One Modern Circle campaign.

Carshenah returned back home to do community theatre, but New York had called yet again. This time, Carshenah was blessed with a coveted acting job on Broadway with the New York touring company TheatreWorks USA for a dual role of Marion Carter and Jane for the show, “The Color of Justice.” Carshenah landed this role on her very first major audition out in New York. This was a play that brought to life the historical civil rights ruling of Brown vs. The Board of Education.

Carshenah finished her tour, but within a year’s time Carshenah moved to Los Angeles and has never looked back with a string of television, film and commercials under her belt already. You may have seen her in such movies and t.v like, “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “24,” “Boomerang Kids” or “The Walking Dead: Christmas Special Spoof. If you did, you were able to see an up and comer on the Hollywood scene. Commercially, you can catch Carshenah on an animated “Wells Fargo” commercial, high-fiveing women working with “Kellogg’s,” or more recently on a global print campaign for “Microsoft Windows Phone,” and “Logitech,” Carshenah is working and working hard.

Up next, you can catch her in a new web series called, “The Red Shirt Diaries,” a comedy spoof based on the original Star Trek series, a short film considered for a film festival called, “The Bridge,” collaborating with her cohort Peter Pahor and currently writing a short horror film in pre-production with her production company Verse Films in late October.

Indie Artist Will Procter Releases Debut EP ‘Pictures’

The singer and songwriter known as Will Procter has released his anxiously awaited debut EP record, “Pictures.” The extended-play record includes five original acoustic tracks for an approximate total listening time of 17 minutes. It has been proudly released on the Thumbmuffin Records independent music label. Soulful, heartfelt, and performed with a natural warmth that is difficult to find and impossible to reproduce, “Pictures” by Will Procter is a collection of anthems from one of today’s most genuine music artists.

Listed online variously as pop and adult contemporary music, Procter cites as main artistic influences Oasis, Mumford and Sons, the Smiths, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and Bon Iver. His own sound takes attributes from each of these and synthesizes them into a mood and timbre that is all his own. More roll than rock, and possessing an inborn power in every sonorous vocal line, Will Procter’s “Pictures” is a record that promises much more to come from this up-and-coming performer.

Speaking of the themes of his debut record, Procter writes, “I want to share some very typical life issues which sometimes relate to heartbreak, but then there are times of optimism which we should all embrace.”

This dichotomy of blue tones and sunlight ebb and flow throughout “Pictures” not unlike the occurrences of daily life. Opening on a groove and closing with tenderness and reflection, the EP record is sure to strike chords with listeners of nearly every age and persuasion.

Procter was born and raised in Blackpool, Lancashire, and moved to London in 2012 to pursue a career in acting and music. He received his Acting MA from the Academy of Live and Recorded Art in 2013 and now focuses on music. He has performed in several bands and currently plays in an acoustic duo, Donkey Vision, performing acoustic versions of well-known songs.

“Pictures” by Will Procter is available online worldwide.

Axanar Raises More Than $650,000 Through Kickstarter

Star Trek fans worldwide made their voices heard by donating over $650,000 on Kickstarter and through PayPal to finance the independent film Star Trek: Axanar (follow-up to the highly-successful – and Kickstarter-funded – short, Prelude to Axanar). The viral marketing campaign stands as a prime example of the power of grassroots social media efforts, and was capped by actor George Takei, Star Trek’s original Sulu, taking to Facebook and Twitter to promote the project, boosting its final tally by 50-percent on its last day.

Spearheaded by producer/writer Alec Peters and writer/director Christian Gossett, creator of the critically acclaimed graphic novel The Red Star, Star Trek: Axanar is the story of Captain Kirk’s hero, Garth of Izar, a character only seen in one episode of the original Star Trek. Axanar focuses on Garth and his crew during the Four Years War with the Klingon Empire, twenty-one years before the original Star Trek – a war that almost tore apart the Federation and set the stage for Star Trek mythology as we know it. Peters, who wrote the original fan fiction twenty years ago, partnered with Gossett to turn the story into a screenplay worthy of inclusion in the Trek universe.

The duo worked hard to show that Axanar would distinguish itself from other fan-based Star Trek productions by bringing in acting (and science fiction) legends Tony Todd, Kate Vernon, Richard Hatch, Gary Graham, and J.G. Hertzler to play the key roles, and an award-winning crew including Oscar-winning sound designer Frank Serafine (The Hunt for Red October), and makeup artist Kevin Haney (Driving Miss Daisy). They are complemented by visual-effects magician Tobias Richter, whose work has been used in the remastered Star Trek: The Next Generation Blu-rays.

“There is no difference between this and any other terrifically managed and organized independent production I’ve ever been a part of – this is much better than almost all of them,” says actor J.G. Hertzler, who portrays Starfleet Admiral Samuel Travis.

An initial successful Kickstarter campaign in March 2014 raised over $100,000 to produce Prelude to Axanar; a 20-minute short film modeled after the PBS documentaries of Ken Burns and the Sir Laurence Olivier-narrated The World at War. The short gives the viewer a look at the events leading up to the Battle of Axanar and presents both a historical and personal account of the war. In addition, it allowed the cast and crew to prove their ability to deliver a professional-quality Star Trek production. “In twenty minutes, Prelude gave us new Star Trek characters and situations and proved that it was worthy of the name Star Trek,” said Robert Meyer-Burnett, award-winning writer and director of the film Free Enterprise and many other Star Trek productions.

So what made this crowdfunding campaign so successful? “The most important part was Prelude itself,” said Peters, “because it gave us enormous credibility. Combine that with an amazingly-loyal and passionate group of donors from our first Kickstarter, who tirelessly evangelized for us, and the aid of the geek media, which got behind the project after seeing our first trailer, and there was no stopping the momentum we’d built up.”

    About Star Trek: Axanar
Star Trek: Axanar is a not-for-profit film project produced by Axanar Productions, Inc. Axanar uses the intellectual property of CBS, Star Trek rights holder, under the provision that Axanar is completely non-commercial. Axanar is being funded entirely through donations from fans. In March 2014, the short film Prelude to Axanar executed a successful fundraiser that totaled over $100,000. Prelude was filmed in May and premiered during the San Diego Comic-Con on July 26, 2014, launching the feature-length film’s Kickstarter campaign that raised over $650,000 on Kickstarter and PayPal. Axanar begins pre-production in September with production scheduled to begin early 2015. Additional information can be found at http://www.startrekaxanar.com.

I remember those nights, we chased the light across the sky, the earth buzzing and flashing beneath us pulsating warm breaths to radiate our hearts, desiring perfection seeking infinity and always drinking the wine from the cup. Blaring organs and crashing cymbals filled the street in perfect harmony.

After enjoying some success with North American Royalty Jack Kirton, Joseph Berkley and Dennis Hubbard wanted to return to making more straight forward rock music. Drawing from there musical past Jack with Proto and Joey and Dennis with All Things Greens they developed there own blend of soulful rhythms and jangling pop melodies. endelouz is a return to a more decadent time in the sound of rock n roll. Mixing elements from old school r & b and rock with there own personal style endelouz is developing a sound that is fresh and distinctive.

endelouz formed in 2008 (during a hiatus of North American Royalty- Jack Kirton, Joseph Berkley, and Dennis Hubbard’s alternate endeavor with songwriter Elise Berkes) in Chattanooga, TN. Embracer Releases Trilogy of Studio Videos

West Virginian indie rock/post-hardcore outfit Embracer, Imminence Records’s newest signing, has released a trilogy of studio updates from their time in Atlanta with Matt Malpass (Dance Gavin Dance, Hey Monday, Relient K, Manchester Orchestra). The trilogy (Episode 1 / Episode 2 / Episode 3) features clips of the band recordings along with snippets of the new music to be released of their label debut, which is tentatively set for a November release. The band will then hit the road this winter in support of the release with details being released at a later date.

From their conception as a hardcore band and through numerous lineup, members’ role, and stylistic changes; Embracer has matured and developed drastically to what they are now. They now encompass a broad range of stylistic influences from Circa Survive and Balance and Composure to Johnny Cash and Miles Davis. This leads the band to take an open-minded approach to their music, refusing to let boundaries set by genres or expectations to limit what takes part in the songwriting process with Ryan Pullin commenting, “We believe that music can be a therapy, a crutch, an ecstasy, or an escape for people. It’s one thing to be able to live a passion and do what you want for yourself, but knowing that we will be encouraged to continue to create music that will reach out to our audiences makes it truly worth it.”

    Episode 3:

    About Embracer:
Embracer is an indie rock/post-hardcore focused in Charleston, WV. From their conception as a hardcore band and through numerous lineup, members’ role, and stylistic changes, Embracer has matured and developed drastically to what they are now. Embracer has incorporated a vastly broader range of stylistic influences from modern rock bands like Circa Survive, Polyneso, Balance and Composure, and This Will Destroy You to even older, much different stylistic influences such as Johnny Cash and Miles Davis. Embracer takes an open-minded approach to their music, refusing to let boundaries set by genres or expectations to limit what takes part in the songwriting process.

In the December of 2010, Embracer formed in Hurricane, WV under the name of “World Famous.” When Zak Rea, the lead songwriter, left and whose place was taken by Jordan Bradley, the style of influence began to change dramatically as more outside influences from the other band members began to flow into the song writing process, though the melodic hardcore style stayed, although for not much longer. In August of 2011, World Famous changed its name to Embracer along with the release of the Dreamers EP, a six-track melodic hardcore EP recorded, mixed, and mastered by Brette Ciamarra of 344 Studios.

Embracer has faced numerous line-up changes since 2011 and a complete overhaul on not only the style but structure of the songwriting process. From founding members departing to lead roles changing, there has been much growth in multiple directions. With a struggling to virtually non-existent modern and developing music scene in the Charleston, WV area, Embracer has had to remain extremely persistent over the past four years to grow. With the upcoming recording of Embracer’s debut album My Father’s Will with the renowned Matt Malpass, this album could potentially be a cornerstone for the forward progress of Embracer.
