SPINNER (all caps) have just released their debut EP titled ‘No. 1’. That deserves that announcement. Just listen to the previews, folks. This IS the new #indie. To be honest, the only negative thing I can say is that it is only four songs. but those four songs can last an eternity in the mind of the creative basked in pure appreciation of the music. This is a track by track contribution to those few that truly think outside of the box when it comes to music and can take that raw originality and forge it into something that can outlast the artist. ‘No. 1’ is a four-track sensation best left on infinite repeat.
CDs and merchandise are available for purchase and they will be available shortly to download too – on Spotify, iTunes and other platforms (with free music tasters).
About SPINNER
SPINNER is an iconic 3-piece British rock band in the making, offering a multi-influenced retro-modern sound, that is all their own. Step aboard the SPINNER train for an incredible experience of musical and lyrical artistry that is a feast for the senses.
SPINNER is:
- Sammie Harris, a crowd-pleasing frontman whose husky soulful vocals and modern Townshend rhythmic mastery on electric guitar will transport you to another place in time
- James Greenhow, driving those melodies and adding depth and warmth through a pulsing heart of bass
- Ryan Sams, skillful yet whimsical Moon-n-Starr-esque drums and beautiful melancholic backing vocals
As music connoisseurs, SPINNER states their ever-expanding musical influences as bands like The Who, The Doors, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Verve, Cast, The La’s, Oasis, Kula Shaker, Ocean Colour Scene, Kasabian…. the list goes on and on…
Hailing from Kent, SPINNER was the brainchild of Sammie Harris and Ryan Sams, who found their bass player, James Greenhow, almost three years ago. They are a heady mix of all that’s good about live music and have a loyal and growing following.
Charismatic frontman of SPINNER, Sammie Harris is self-taught on guitar and piano and has been playing since the age of 9. As a teenager, he was spotted for his songwriting talent when he won a national songwriting competition 2 years in a row, judged by the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Chris Martin, and Steve Lemacq, at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.
It’s the second time around for Sammie, who was in the band Touriste with his older brother Kris. Last time, just as they were set to go on a US tour supporting Scouting for Girls, the after-effects from a car accident left Sammie debilitated and unable to carry on with the band.
Undeterred, Sammie continued writing and recording from home, the passion for his craft remaining strong even in his darkest days. Now, almost a decade on, Sammie is back with his new band and a wealth of that music demands to be heard.
They launched their debut EP, entitled No.1, at Poco Loco, Chatham, Kent on Friday 5th October.
