“It’s Easy To Stay Home” is the uplifting debut from the new unsigned, London based, singer-songwriter, Lauren Moon. Its timely release has many describing it as the “ultimate lockdown melody”, though forgiving its lyrical hook, the song is a far cry from the social media memes and parodies keeping us all so entertained at the moment.

Self produced with band mate (bassist) Peter Perrett Jr. (credits include Pete Doherty and Brian Fe rry), “It’s Easy To Stay Home” evokes the sentimentality of John Lennon’s “Oh Yoko!”, while highlighting a characteristic vibrato in Moon’s voice, which is identifiable, sincere and without affectation. A multi instrumentalist, Moon also takes up the piano, guitar, harmonica and ukulele throughout the track.

Born to a Belgian mother and English father, both orchestral musicians, Moon’s musical style is enriched by those roots in the form of influences like French pop stars Françoise Hardy and Serge Gains bourg, but also John Lennon, Fleetwood Mac and classic folkies Bob Dylan and The Band.

Having met at the BIMM Music College in London, Lauren and Perrett Jr. formed a strong musical bond leading to the pair supporting the return of Peter Perrett Sr., singer of iconic new wave band, The Only Ones, on his two Domino releases, “How The West Was Won” and “Humanworld”, and their supporting tours.

Now though, the pair is ready to step out on their own. “It’s Easy To Stay Home” is a beautiful song, brimming with confident performances, and while wearing its influences on its sleeve; it slides into them comfortably without begging for them to be noticed. The track is available for streaming now on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
