America Jayne has today released her new single titled ‘Souvenirs’. The meaning of the song America says pretty clear…ahem… so I will get to the music. It totally and beautifully fits the subject matter. The benefit is the beat and wonderful chord progression that perfectly aligns with America’s young yet weathered (experienced) vocals. The songwriting is the hero of the hook, however. This song just has a flow to it that gives me the energy to actually write this at 2 in the morning lol.

America Jayne is a solid artist in which ‘Souvenirs’ makes me want to expect more from. Personality from that intro guitar to the ‘mini-beatle-esque’ style musical car crash at the end.

“‘Souvenirs’ is an unabashed, fuck being friends with benefits, anthem. This song is the anger phase of the five phases of grief. The song was born from a time where I struggled to find the boundaries between friendship, emotional relationships, and sex. Whenever you mix those three things, disaster is bound to happen, and this explores the uncomfortable in-between”

About America Jayne

New York’s indie-rock songstress America Jayne prides herself on being just that, only and proudly herself. Her ability to channel huge, year-long feelings into 3 minutes allows her to communicate even the toughest subjects, like owning her queer sexuality. Her next raw, guitar-driven single “Souvenirs” encapsulates a frustrating feeling of trying to stick to boundaries in a friends with benefits relationship.
