- Catch Fire Hicari 3:29
HICARI, Meaning ‘Light’ in Japanese, are a multicultural 5-piece pop band based in Liverpool who are influenced by the synth-pop of artists such as CHRVCHES; The 1975; and St. Lucia, whilst using everything 80’s as the foundation for their sound.
The band’s debut release ‘Catch Fire’ showcases the band’s trademark uplifting melodies, synth-hooks and driving beats.
We love dual vocals especially when used effectively as HICARI have perfected how to do. On arrival of the chorus we’re hooked with this track as the repetitive backline gets underneath the skin as we find ourselves bopping along to the infectious beat.
“With a distinctive 80’s feel to their persona, the quintet blend together euphoric choruses with a net of synths, with a good dose of addictive drum hooks that drill into you instantly”
Craig MacDonald, Getintothis
“A sound made up of strong synth-pop elements backing a strong voice and cinematic momentum. Recently awarded one of Liverpool’s Top 20 artists for 2016-17, they are getting ready to play the Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) Summer Jam in July. This means supporting great acts such as Lianne La Havas, The Wombats and more.”
Severine Baron, 24ourmusic
“Put your dancing shoes on, make yourself a little vulnerable and give ‘Consumed’ by HICARI a listen. Then patiently wait with me for more music by this insanely talented group of friends”
Nick Howland, Playlistplay
“Bright, glistening pop hooks demonstrate an emphatic love that HICARI clearly have for music”
