Since then Carl Barat of The Libertines has joined them on stage at a recent London gig and they’ve been slogging away on the live circuit, building a name for themselves via the DIY approach. It’s seen this song trending on Soundcloud and they now have over 165,000 combined plays on both tracks, leading Sky News to get in touch to run a feature on them next week. Vocalist Marc Burford is impressive on this confident, tight slice of raw guitar euphoria and you’d be churlish to not want to join them for the booze-fuelled ride. Club Jubilee at Camden’s Barfly on October 10 is the launch night party for the single. The great little video gives a taste of what to expect and you can see yourself why their live reputation is building very rapidly. We’ll drink to that. ABOUT ECHOTAPE: Echotape was formed in 2011 by a group of like-minded guys from the music scene in a small, off-the-map town in the South of England. Living together in their own studio and flat, the boys set about getting their music heard from all corners of the globe. Their sense of adventure has seen the band perform from Hollywood to Holyhead, Moscow to Madrid. Feature in London’s Tate Gallery, have naked stage invasions in Dublin, and jam onstage with Carl Barat of The Libertines. Their DIY approach was featured in Sky News’ report and interview with the band on the DIY ethic amongst new artists in November 2013. Their single “We Should Feel Like We Are In Love”, trended on SoundCloud after release in April 2014, clocking over 100,000 online plays through self-release, and a sold-out limited edition run of 500 CD singles. This also saw the band invited for a studio session with BBC Introducing South, and spend the summer on the festival circuit at the likes of The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City and Blissfields. Echotape have just announced the release of their new single ‘Whiskey Bar’ out on 13 October 2014. This will again see the band tour the UK and have a whole lot of fun doing it.
