1. An Interview with Whitney Tài Jammerzine Exclusive 50:33

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with the multi-talented artist Whitney Tài. We also get the added bonus of premiering Whitney’s brand new video titled ‘Incantation’. And this, to me, is such a pleasure because Whitney is not only a talented artist but an earnest one. She is genuine in what she does and how she presents it. And it shows in everything she does. She works with the right people such as Tim Janssens with her music and now Beauty in Chaos with an upcoming collaboration.

And today we learn a bit about her, in her own words. From her beginnings to the choices she’s made that got her to where she is now and what she has coming up.

‘Incantation is a video that is as cinematic in vision as much as the song is orchestral and lucid in scope. With the help of violinist Emer Kinsella and the visual direction of Tim Janssens, Whitney gives such a lush masterpiece that one has to consider it as a future classic. This is a perfect example of how diverse the #indie scene truly is.

About ‘Apogee’

LA-based music partners, Whitney Tai and #1 Billboard Producer, Tim Janssens (Sunfreakz) have released their new album, Apogee on June 5th, 2020. Apogee is the second LP from artist Whitney Tai, written and produced in Los Angeles, CA, and is mastered by Grammy Award Winning, Gavin Lurssen.

The record incorporates a variety of stylistic elements such as dream-pop, electro-pop, alt-rock, R&B, and aromas of the gospel. Apogee received acclaim from long-time radio veteran and host of Ultimate Classic Rock, Zach Martin, who’s interviewed music icons Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page.

Apogee not only became Tai’s triumph over a lifelong anxiety disorder but quickly took shape as a manual to help others overcome suffering, incorporating lessons of coping, resilience, and empathy.

Music Junkie calls Apogee “ten songs that range from dream pop to power ballads, all delivered with Tai’s trademark seamless blend of scalpel-sharp lyrics, subtle production details, and powerhouse voice that contains both the child and the Valkyrie.”

Vernon Reid of Grammy Award-winning Rock band, Living Colour, lists Apogee as one of the top albums to have in your collection for 2020. Tai elaborates, “we go through so many phases of grief in life and accumulate extraneous pain on our shoulders and must chisel away to meet who we really are at the heart of it all. In this beautiful and turbulent universe, it’s possible to manifest healing regardless of the type of abuse one endures.”

“With Apogee, Whitney Tai delivers tantalizing wisps of surface pigments, drifting, cogent, and mesmerizing, all crowned by her superb vocals.”
Randy Radic, Rawckus Magazine

“ The musical leaps are incredible, effortlessly showcasing Tai’s vocal talents with songs about how to overcome grief, sadness, anxiety, pain into powerful anthems that celebrate the resiliency of the human spirit. Anchored by Janssens, crisp, spot-on production, Whitney Tai makes a strong case for being the next great voice in pop. One of the year’s best.”
Earl Douglas, The InterroBang, Sirius XM

“A fantastic piece of production that tickles the ears with new sounds and scapes, flowing wonderfully from track to track. It’s a really wonderful feeling to be taken out of consciousness so easily by the power of music and strong lyricism.”
We Write About Music

About Whitney Tài

Songwriter/producer, Whitney Tai’s cinematic blend of electro-pop, rock, and alternative metal are powered by her nuanced, soaring vocals. After releasing a more pop-leaning debut, Metamorphosis, in 2015, she and main collaborator Tim Janssens reinforced her sound on 2020’s Apogee. New York City native Whitney Tai Vlasaty began writing poetry and songs at the age of seven, soon dreaming of pursuing a career in music.

After losing her mother to cancer at age ten, she channeled her energies into art and went on to study architecture and design at the college level. She found a music partner in producer Tim Janssens, and the two began working on songs for her first album. She was working as a designer when her grandfather took ill and eventually succumbed to a heart condition. The self-released Metamorphosis followed in April of 2015.

The EP Forever produced by Spencer Garn appeared in 2016, and she collaborated with Janssens ‘ dance project Sunfreakz 2017’s “Shockwave.” Tai relocated to Los Angeles determined to follow her grandfather’s advice and not give up on her dream where she formed a new backing band and started booking shows. Tai re-teamed with Janssens to write songs for her second long-player.

She headlined on the Yamaha stage at music trade convention NAMM in January 2020 and released her sophomore album, Apogee, that June. The album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Janssens . The team just finished filming the official music video for “Incantation” the final track off “Apogee” which is slated to release around Christmas.
