Australia has it’s own flavor when it comes to it’s progressive rock/metal sound. There is a brand new wave of this unique brand of progressive music and firmly among those innovators in Australia is Melbourne’s 6-piece prog rock wizards, Transience.
There are no rules or limits to the ingredients or the method to which these elements come together and form this unique sound/feel in the genre and it seems to be a different mix each time. Like those who came before them – Karnivool, Cog, The Butterfly Effect, Dead Letter Circus, Twelve Foot Ninja and more – Transience have dabbled with alchemy and conjured gold out of what was just a mix of molecules.
Their debut album ‘Temple’ is set to define their space in the Australian heavy scene – a manic, urgent, impressive album of 11 tracks that set them against the backdrops of the Australian prog rock/heavy landscape and firmly in the ranks. Temple was produced and mixed by Phil Threlfall at The Base Studios and mastered by Acle Kahney (TesseracT) at 4D Sounds.
Based in Melbourne, Transience combines soaring melodies, warped time signatures, crushing grooves and expansive atmospheres to create their own take on progressive rock and metal.
2013 saw them release their self-titled EP, hailed as “a perfect fit within the Aussie atmosphere of bands such as Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Sleep Parade and Breaking Orbit” by international blog, The Undertow, who awarded it number 6 in it’s top 15 EP’s of 2013. Success from the EP spread into a national tour, playing the Showdown, Creepshow and St Kilda Festivals, as well as shows alongside heavy hitters of the Australian scene.
Transience will release a filmclip for the single SISTER before the album drops and tour the album in the middle of 2015. Tour dates will come very soon after the album is released on Friday May 1st into iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp and all good online outlets.
