Born in Miami, FL, Bruce McKinnon Jr. has played all throughout the United States and Canada, touring Argentina and playing shows in Colombia, he is a well rounded and well versed in his line of work.
Bruce began his musical journey on the piano at the age of 8. Four years later he was attracted to the trumpet (because in his 12 year old mind, he only had to play three notes.) During his adolescent years, he began to pick up the guitar and write songs. At age 17, he was playing in two bands outside of school, one of which gigged frequently throughout Miami’s Downtown area and South Beach.
‘Bachaco’ is known for its high energy performances. With a rugged-voiced Venezuelan lead singer, Jamaican singer/guitarist, and an Irish-Colombian trumpet playing rapper, Bachaco really knew how to get the crowd from a dull roar to screaming lines out the door. Bachaco has been on the same bill as bands such as Cultura Profetica, War, Gondwana, Enanitos Verdes, and Bahiano. In Bruce’s seven year career with this group, he gained much touring, recording, composing, networking, and playing experience.
Today, Bruce is a solo recording artist working his first full length album “SOULUTION.” He is also a freelance musician, playing with different groups around the South Florida area, including HipBop Band, TuneSquad, Black Star, sideman with Chloe Dolandis, and Bushwood, to name a few.
In the year 2017, he will be graduating with a Bachelors Degree from University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
At the young age of 26, Bruce has much to offer the world. Get ready.
