1. Animals in the Kitchen Dylan Cox 4:12

Dylan Cox, 24, is a singer and songwriter from Los Angeles and who lives in Paris. His music blends story and melody, half-indie folk and half something else, poetically articulating the longing and miracle of community that music can communicate. In March of 2021, he releases his first single, Animals In The Kitchen, produced and engineered by the mega talented Abraham Rounds of Jake and Abe (of the bands of Andrew Bird, Blake Mills, Meshell Ndegeocello) It also features Jake Sherman (Andrew Bird, Nick Hakim), piano whiz and Alan Hampton (Andrew Bird, Madison Cunningham) on bass. Juliette Beauchamp plays violin from Berlin, and Mateo Vermot makes on the guitar from Paris.

Born and raised in a small Southern Californian beach town, Dylan spent the first half of his life focused on becoming a professional surfer. At 18, he turned his back from surfing and focused on school and music, moving to the Bay Area. While studying literature and philosophy at Berkeley, he played local shows, grooming his singing and stage presence, collecting experience as a songwriter and performer. With a room-filling voice, his music is an ode to the love song, to our neighbors and the places we meet them, to the possibility of friends and the magic making of a family that music allows.

Since 2019, he has spent half of his time in residence and working at La Villa Magnan, a once-abandoned castle in the Basque Country, in the south-west of France. When not tending to farm animals and the staff duties of the bed-and-breakfast, he amassed a collection of songs there that he will release in 2021.
