1. Ruins Marva Von Theo 4:55

At times darksome and dancey, but mostly introspective, gripping and moony, Marva Von Theo finds their way through the dark synth music to twilight electro-pop, representing a multi-layered work of innovative and compelling songwriting with expressive vocals and refined orchestration. Their sounds, melodies, rhythms, and aesthetics cover a wide, contradictory spectrum, infused with their very own, distinctive vocabulary. Away from the old-school and the previous dogmas, they feel free to experiment, to take risks as artists and define themselves within the vast world of what is broadly called pop music.

Marva Von Theo sounds futuristic, fierce, passionate, restless, noisy, risky, sophisticated, fragile, melancholic, darkly romantic, sensitive.

Both Marva and Theo are classically trained musicians, driven by their experimental nature and passion to indulge in diverse genres of music. Marva is a classical pianist and has a background in jazz singing while Theo, apart from being a classical and jazz pianist, he is a Contemporary and Electroacoustic Composer, who has written several pieces for orchestra and music ensembles. The duo began to collaborate in 2016. Even though Theo Foinidis was living in Vienna and Marva Voulgari in Athens at that time, they soon found themselves drifting into an intensive storm of creativity, which led to their full-length Debut Album “Dream within a Dream”. It was the relocation of Theo in Athens in 2017 that made it easier for the band to evolve further and perform live.

Their Debut Album “Dream within a Dream”, which was self-released in 2018, consists of 12 songs, 12 dreams of love and passion and soon garnered very positive reviews both in Greece and abroad. Its vinyl edition was released via Shades of Sound/Wave Records (BR) in 2019.

They have performed in various venues and festivals, most significant being the Linecheck Festival in Milan in 2018 and Athens Music Week Showcase Festival in 2019, but also as the opening act for Motorama (RU) & Molly Nillson (DE).

Marva Von Theo’s second album “Afterglow” is slated for release in 2020 and it’s going to be a more introspective and mystical album but at the same time introducing a more up-tempo, dance-inspired style. The title “Afterglow” has several meanings and extensions relating to MVT’s work and personal lives and was used in its more melancholic hues to express these bittersweet feelings when something significantly beautiful ends, that being a relationship, an experience, a certain life stage, etc. Marva Von Theo took their time with this album in order to dive deeper into each and every sound they contrived, to further expand their sonic palette, to redefine their vision, and to find the balance between pop and experimental synth music, between poetry and songwriting, between reality and dream.
