Sophie Kilburn has today released her new single titled ‘Afterthought’. Toxic relationships now have an anthem with those ever-so-true lyrics that any of us could have written ourselves out of sheer experience, but, Sophie has done just that in a way that we can all relate to and, maybe, not have had the courage to write in the way they were written here.

It takes a bold songwriter to write from personal angst, yet, can be therapeutic to all of us in a very personal way. Sophie does that with an original style and in a sonic burst of creativity that, not only insures us that we are not alone, but we are all in this together.

About Sophie Kilburn

Sophie Kilburn is a Derbyshire born singer, songwriter who merges melancholic pop with fiery indie-angst. Her bold sonic fusion of old-school rocker & modern pop warrior is inspired by Alt-Pop heroes like Haim, Phoebe Bridgers & Self-Esteem, with a heavy emphasis on lyrics & storytelling.

From releasing “alt-indie banger” (Fame Magazine) Indigo Fever and “driving pop-anthem” (Complex UK) Broke, Sophie has received global recognition as an “undeniable songwriting talent” (XS Noize), as well as backing from BBC Introducing and Mahogany Sessions. Sophie soon followed with her stripped back & intimate single Call Home, premiering in Clash as “something special”, leading to her playing Amazing Radio’s virtual CMJ Festival alongside Declan McKenna, Beabadoobee and Wolf Alice, plus being named ‘Best of 2020’ by Chalk Pit Records.

Last year, Sophie released her debut EP My Room Made Public, digging emotionally deep to question how much of our lives should we really share? The project included driving indie-pop banger ‘Movements’ that featured on Flux FM (Berlin) New Music Radar Show and Get In Her Ears (Hoxton Radio) as their ‘one to watch’.

The project received high praise across the board from being backed by Amazing Radio UK and US, to being called ‘truly a one to watch’ by 1883 and Lock Magazine alongside Rag n Bone Man and Charlie XCX, to BBC Introducing, naming Ruthless and I’m In Love With My Therapist as ‘Track of the Week’ by the East Midlands Team, resulting in a “mesmerising” live session for BBC Radio Derby. Renowned BBC DJ Presenter, Dean Jackson, has hailed Sophie ‘as an artist to get excited about’, with Right Chord Music crowning her as their ‘Breakthrough Act of 2021.

Sophie now brings self-love and reflective anthem ‘Afterthought’ to 2022, an indie pop perfection track that unpicks the red flags of a toxic romance. This year will see Sophie take her powerhouse vocals and emotionally driven lyricism to live audiences across the country, starting with a headline show at Paper Dress Vintage, in London on Wednesday 27th April. With backing from Sentric Music, Ivors Academy and being awarded the Do It Differently Fund from Help Musicians, Sophie will undoubtedly be making waves this year, continuing to grow her loyal following, empowering them to take control of their confidence and feel to the max.
