With a smooth bravado and a distinctive musical swagger, Chris Baluyut really impresses the aural senses with his debut album titled ‘Leap Year’. For me, it’s those subtle things he does on the guitar that really set the mood and tone for the entire song. He is a true guitarist at heart with a solid penchant for songwriting. Those two skills combined can make future classics. Each track is designed for intimate venues with the intention to become the soundtrack for that future memory. Chris is an artist to watch, for sure.

About Chris Baluyut
Chris Baluyut is a singer-songwriter from New York City. Since picking up the guitar at age 14, Chris had originally played electric guitar, centered around alternative rock and post-punk genres. But since moving to Tokyo in 2016, Chris has switched entirely to acoustic guitar. Citing influences such as Damien Rice, Bon Iver, and The National, Chris now plays a blend of ambient folk and folk-rock styles, utilizing a variety of guitar harmonic methods and vocal harmonizer effects in his songs.
Chris’ upcoming album, Leap Year, is his first ever music release. The album will be out Saturday, August 25th. Chris and his band will be hosting the album release show at 7th Floor in Shibuya, accompanied by local Tokyo acts, Kate Sikora Band, Sou Yamazaki, as well as Good Morning, flying in all the way from Melbourne for their tour of Japan.
