Following critically received debut album ‘Doll Skin Flag’ in 2012, and EP ‘Skyliner’ in 2014, Desert Ships release their second album ‘Eastern Flow’ on March 1st, 2019. Mixed by Mark Gardener (of resurgent shoegaze band Ride) and recorded at Abbey Road Studios by Haydn Bendall (Kate Bush), and Alex Scannell (The Bees), and Mikrokosm Studios, Lyon by Beniot Bel (Thurston Moore).

This record expands on their dream wave sound, exploring unorthodox structures with imaginative vocal arrangements, an explosive keyboard sound spectrum, and augmented by brass, percussion and Gainsbourg ‘Melody Nelson’ era strings – performed by members of The Heritage Orchestra and arranged by Jules Buckley (Quincy Jones, John Cale).

It veers wildly, from a ‘Pet Sounds’ melody chamber one moment, to a night-time autobahn soundtrack the next.

The experience is a ten-song kaleidoscopic sensory overload.

“Simply breathtaking”

“A super-driven psychedelic trip into space”
