Microcosms prove their worth in the #indie scene with their new live album titled ‘Live on WZRD Chicago 88.3FM’. WZRD is an awesome radio station located in Chicago that specializes in the freeform format. I got turned on to them in my Chicago days and still listen to them via TuneIn. So this is a perfect fit. Microcosms show how much of a true live/experimental band that they are with every track. Most bands don’t muster up to the challenge of being in a live environment and are able to pull off that magic that was captured in the studio. Microcosms, however, not only capture that magic, they enhance it by bringing that energy in their original songs and surpassing it with the energy they feed off from the crowd.
Microcosms make music to question your beliefs too. The Chicago-based alternative rock band began as the brain baby of Andrew Tschiltsch (guitar/vocals), who spent a few years recording solo demos and experimenting with his sound before recruiting Bryan Emer (bass) and Jered Pipenbrink (drums) to fill out the band. The band blends introspective lyrics with crunchy guitar riffs and pulsating rhythms. Microcosms are most influenced by modern rock artists like Arctic Monkeys, Bully, Cage the Elephant, Courtney Barnett, Portugal. the Man, and Wolf Alice.
