Pilotcan releases their first new material in fourteen years. Written almost entirely in Austin, Texas, it reflects the band’s links to both the city and the people they know there. Recorded back in Scotland at Chem 19 studios, with producer Paul Savage, the album is their strongest collection of songs thus far. Post Rock instrumentals, Shoegaze melodies, and Alt Rock influences collide to create an ambitious work of song and a celebration of life.
The Scottish band was formed in the late 90s around the nucleus of friends Keiron Mellotte and Joe Herbert. They released singles on Mogwai’s Rock Action Records, recorded three critically acclaimed albums and recorded a Peel Session for the great man himself. Despite a degree of success and constant touring Pilotcan took a back seat to Keiron’s day job as one of the EVOL DJs. The hiatus continued until the songwriting itch returned to plague them further.
A follow up to this album has already been recorded and will be released in 2019. In addition, Pilotcan plan to release a compilation gathering together their early vinyl-only singles, their Peel sessions, and other unreleased gems.
