Naylor’s Notes: Angel Sessions

She gives full respect to pop, and R&B icons Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson.  She will never forget they were the ones who molded her into the artist she is today.  Please check out  what she had to say during our interview.

    Where are you originally from?
    I am from Louisville KY.

When did you start performing music?
I started back in the early 1992.

    Which instruments do you play?
I don’t play instruments, my vocals are my instruments.

Describe your music interests and abilities.
My interest as a songwriter and singer is being able to share my gift with many people from around the world. My abilities of writing my own songs are a big plus for me.

    What famous musicians inspire you?
Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Fred Hammond, Usher, Janet Jackson, and Michael Jackson.

What is some of your best musical memories?
The best memories were when I was on a movie set. I was sitting at a table with my friends and one of them asked me to sing something for her because she wanted her friends to hear me. There where 80 people in the room and it was loud and noisy so I was trying to sing a little loud for my friend, and her friends to hear me. Before I knew it, the room got very quiet as though you can hear a penny drop, and everybody stopped to clap for me. I was a little nervous when that happen, but very thankful everyone had enjoyed my song.

What public events do you have coming up?
I currently am working on 2015 shows. No shows for the rest of this year.

What would you say to beginners, who are nervous?
I would say to the beginners, keep practicing, learn the business, and its normal to be nervous, just enjoy what you do, and you can get through it.

How do you balance your music with your family and friends?
I spend time with my family and friends when I am not doing music. And on my work hard and grinding days, I take that time to work on my music.

Should we be expecting anything new to be released?
Yes, even though I released my latest CD on June 24th 2014, I am currently working on another project. No release date as of yet, but I like to always have more music for my fans.

Where can we follow your career at?
You can follow me at the following links:
    Angel Sessions | Facebook
    Angel Sessions | Twitter
    my website: www.angelsessions.com

Do you get nervous before a performance?
Yes, sometimes. Even though I have performed so many times, I still treat it like it’s my first time.  I still want to perform my very best, to give an outstanding show for my fans.

    Do you attend jam sessions?
I haven’t had the time for jam sessions because it’s been nonstop for me working on my career.

    Is your family musical?
    No my family isn’t musical.

How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
I handle my mistakes with a smile on my face and just keep singing. I try not to let them see me sweat. Lol.

Daily Dose: Super bob – Father Father

    1147538_671624209532875_1192144067_o

Super bob is a rock band from the Washington DC area formed under the name “bob” in 05. We have four members. Matt Santoro on vocals, Adam Smith on guitar, Drew Recny on bass, and Chris Faircloth on drums.

We wont waste your time with a long winded description of our accomplishments, or grandiose exaggerations of who we are and what we’ve done. To make it short and sweet we will simply say that Super bob is a hard working, dedicated, full time rock band that plays about 240 shows a year (actual shows, not just days on the road). We have 3 full length records (all available on iTunes), recorded by amazing producers (Garth “GGGarth” Richardson, and Matt LaPlant) , our members hold sponsorship’s from companies like P.R.S., Sabian, and G.H.S to name a few.

Our live show is more then overblown hype, it’s a fun, energetic, captivating, physical expression of music with an energy and presence beyond the words that can be written in a bio. We spread through the eastern half of the country by starting in one place, building a following, and moving to the next city. Nothing fancy, no label, no investor just hard work and dedication.

We’re a new sound in rock and roll, with an old fashioned rock and roll attitude. We’re familiar, yet completely different. In 2014 you can expect to hear more new music, we’ve already started the record. You can also expect to see us on the road 20-25 days a month, every month.

Thank you, and we’ll see you soon!

Essex Punks GIANTS Announce PledgeMusic Campaign

Essex Punks GIANTS Announce PledgeMusic Campaign To Fund Debut Album

Spending the last couple of years at the forefront of the DIY punk scene, playing hundreds of shows and building their fan base across the UK & Europe, Essex quintet GIANTS are pleased to announce that today, true to their roots, they launch an official PledgeMusic campaign to help crowd fund their as yet untitled debut album – click here for details.

The band had the following to say in an official statement:

“Great news! We are recording our very first full length album and you can be a part of it! We’ve been working closely with PledgeMusic to give you the opportunity to pre-order the album & become a part of the whole recording process! Your pledges will be directly funding our studio time as well as the mastering costs, so in exchange for any contributions we’ll be keeping you all up to date via personal emails, vlogs & even live webcasts from the studio. We’ll also be selling a whole host of stuff which will be completely exclusive to pledgers. We’ve spent the best part of the last year working on this record, we’re so eager to get it out there so we can tour the shit out of it. So if you are a fan of our band & want to see us release this record, we hope you can help us out and ultimately be a part of it!”

The band will be heading to The Ranch Production House in Southampton with producer Neil D. Kennedy (More Than Life, Landscapes, Polar, Heights etc.) to track drums initially between 30th November and 4th December, completing the sessions from 3rd January onwards. A percentage of any funds donated by Pledgers will be going to the “Skate4Cancer” charity and every Pledger will receive a digital download of the album before general release.

After honing their sound across a series of DIY EPs and vinyl singles, GIANTS have successfully amassed a loyal and rabid fan base, standing them in good stead for the inevitable release of this, their debut album.

Now focusing on the next stage of their career, the band have also recently recruited a new drummer in the form of Harvey Freeman, after the departure of previous sticksman and founding member, Ben Creevy:

“Ben was a founding member of our band and has poured his heart and soul into Giants over the years, for that we are indebted to him forever” say the band “But don’t fret, we are not losing a single step – our good friend Harvey Freeman will be taking over behind the kit from now on and we’re excited to have him on board for the next chapter of our bands career.”

Daily Dose: Sumia – One Single Look

    Sumia Until We Shine Again

    Sumia Until We Shine Again

Right now, Sumia is thriving on the same rich musical backgrounds that caused the group to form in the first place, and have influenced its members ever since.

Olli and Samuli have been playing together since secondary school, where they met in the mid-’90s. Jussi joined later, after moving to Jyväskylä to study. Thenceforth, from the depths of a dark garage, began to emanate a heady mixture of melodic punk and hardcore, which began to take the form of various line-ups, two of which were Caitline and Kid Chameleon. Both these groups were guided by a DIY-ethic throughout their active gigging and recording careers. The result was concrete and physical proof that what they played and sang about sprang from a sincere musical passion and addressed topics that really meant something.

But it was only after Joni joined the band that Sumia actually got its name. His wide range of musical backgrounds has effectively brought more of an electronic influence to the band, as well as a versatile, original and insightful approach that has always featured heavily in his various performances. The number of alter-egos he’s used in the past (‘Joniveli’, ‘Jonny Bro’ and ‘Jonny Wanha’) give some indication of this. But nor can Joni be pinned down to one particular field, as his verbal dexterity and production skills have also been praised. At first the band was called ‘Joniveli & Evil Noji’, but before long the band felt a need, perhaps beyond their control, to develop new and different material that would be greater than the sum of even their very best individual parts, and so Sumia was born… and with English lyrics to boot!

Although the members of Sumia are all very close in age, live in the same Finnish town of Jyväskylä, and share the same friends, this is weirdly enough not the most important thing they have in common. What is more deeply shared, is their faith in the power of music and all the levels it works on. They are quite aware of the restrictions that genre and musical preference can in fact inflict. It can be all too easy in these situations to not see the wood for the trees. But by holding back a bit and, perhaps unusually, recording a whole album before playing their first gig, Sumia have endeavoured to overcome those genre-based restrictions. The album came together over a period of about two years, recorded and mixed with Tuomas Kokko at Electric Fox Studios, and mastered at Virtalähde. The end result is something that perhaps other people around the world might enjoy, irrespective of geographical boundaries. What are borders for anyway?

Daily Dose: Peter Pahor – Fate’s Flight

    Peter Pahor

    FROM PETER:
When i finished high school my mother asked me a question: “What do you want to do with your life?” I answered: “I wanna play guitar“. after that answer (and the screams of my mother) I decided to pack my stuff and go away from my home. Lonely but full of passion I started to play in local bands and at the same time study at the local university and work in a factory… but despite all that good times I was spending playing I felt that i was missing something.. I had to find my right dimension, my right way to express my creativity! I had a lot ideas about writing music.. but people didn’t have the same passion about music that I had. so I started to produce my first songs and I liked it too much. after that experience i understood that be a music producer were what I was searching for me. the composition, the sounds, the technology, the feelings etc… all the things I always loved all together! create music to share with the world is simply amazing and give me the force to wake up in the morning.

    MUSIC:
I don’t know how to describe exactly what I want to do or I want create. I think my inspiration is connected on my big passion of travels, movies and books. my artistic creations are very different one with each other and I don’t have one specific genre where I can put myself. I grew up with a lot influences… from black metal concerts to Ibiza’s discotheque. From playing in the streets of Spain as a busker to composing music for commercial spots. I’m against to give a label to art. I think the only way to understand something in music is listen it without prejudice.

    ANOTHER DESTINY PROJECT:
Another Destiny Project is an experimental project where different artists of the world are featured to create the music. It’s a very cool thing believe me!!! Check it out on www.anotherdestinyproject.com

    Vocals/Guitar – Tim David Kelly
    Bass/Vocals – Bret Domrose
    Drums – Peter Burke

    Lyrics:
Somewhere I lost touch with you
    You disappeared, without a clue
    I just want to talk
    To you.

    Would it kill you
If I told you I love you?
    Would it kill you
If I told you I care?

    I care

Crashing through a wall of fear
‘Cause this old brick has new ears
And I just want to talk
    To you

    Would it kill you
If I told you I love you?
    Would it kill you
If I told you I care?

    Would you drop dead
Or would you fall for me?

Somewhere I lost touch with you
I just want to talk to you
Somewhere I lost touch with you

    Would it kill you
If I told you I love you?
    Would it kill you
If I told you I care?
    Would it kill you
If I told you I love you?
    Would it kill you
If I told you I’m scared?

    Fall for me
    Fall for me
    Fall for me
    Fall for me

    The World’s Thinnest Guitar Pick

Canadian company Pick Heaven has produced the world’s thinnest guitar pick, measuring just 0.2mm thick. Made of woven carbon fiber, the same material as bulletproof vests and Formula-1 race cars, the pick is nearly indestructible, unlike most other thin picks that wear down quickly. Carbon fiber also transfers sound vibration much faster than wood or plastic, and the fiber weave helps to keep it firmly in place between the fingers. The pick retails for $3.49.

Based in Alberta, Canada, Pick Heaven is an innovator in high-tech guitar accessories, driven to produce musician tools using new materials that produce the unique tones to quench a guitarist’s tonal thirst. In addition to their thinnest 0.2mm pick, they produce thicker sizes up to 1mm, custom shapes such as the teardrop and jazz guitar style, as well as carbon fiber slides and Teflon picks. Each of these products produces a tone of their own, ranging from a bright, clear sound of carbon fiber to the smooth, warm tone produced by Teflon.

What’s so special about a guitar pick? Today, picks are made from a wide range of materials – nylon, polyethylene, celluloid and other variations of plastic. While they seem innocuous, much of a guitar’s tone depends on the type of pick used. In general, the harder the pick, the brighter and more biting the tone produced. But it’s a balance of materials, because hard picks, such as metal, will chew up the surface of guitar tops and fretboards quickly. On the other hand, thinner picks themselves tend to rip, tear and generally wear out faster. Intense strumming might grind down a thin pick in mid-song, so the ideal is a thin pick that can stand up to wear and tear. Carbon fiber delivers that strength, durability and bright tone that many guitar players are looking for.

Jonathan Kaiser of New York, NY wrote about the pick: “I have played relentlessly for 4-5 hours a day for a week now, using just one pick, and it literally has no wear anywhere on it. The tip is as sharp as the day I opened it. If I ever have to buy a set of picks again it will only because I misplaced these – or someone stole it! And impressively, the sound is especially pure, with no pick noise, only the notes, the way it should be.”

    Naylor’s Notes: Grace Justified

The energy they have on stage is so hot I’m surprised they don’t set the stage on fire. The music they create is inspiration at it’s best.  Grace Justified’s passion is to deliver the music that sets the listener free from the fire.  To follow Jesus, and always put God first.  Give God the glory in all that you do, and watch your world immediately start changing for the best.  God is always listening, and it’s up to you to ask for his help.  Check out this brief bio from Grace Justified, and scroll through their featured pictures, sound tracks, and video’s.  All The Best, & God Bless. – Johnny

Grace in Christianity is the “free” and unmerited favor of God as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowing of blessings. In 2013, Laura Thomas along with Calvin Johnson founded GRACE, an organization comprised of noted musicians and singers who serve within their respective churches, community, and together serve the church at large to uplift the building of the kingdom.

With a desire to minister and draw people from all races, genders, and cultures together through praise and worship, Grace began blending sounds and songs to create melody that would break down barriers and defies categorization.

For the bible tells us; “This was the whole purpose of Jesus coming to earth. God purchased our salvation with his own blood”, Acts 20:28. The price paid at Calvary is the ONLY price able to purchase our salvation. There are not enough good deeds available for any one of us to do, and to ever deserve God’s grace. Christ did the work to make salvation available to us. Working together with the vocalists and musicians of Grace, Laura used her own religious background as a reference point to create their music.

Grace has been working in the ministry over 5 years.  On May 31st, 2014, “Free” the title of their debut Single will be officially launched in Conway, Arkansas. This Single contains one track, plus a bonus track, that is steadily rising to become one of Arkansas favorite singles to date. These songs were recorded to change lives around the world.  On November 11th, Grace Justified will be releasing our second EP entitled, “Over Coming Adversity.”  If you’re looking for a soul steering or upbeat contemporary/traditional song you can find it on this EP.

Grace consists of 12 members & has the heart of a worshipper. Anointed, unique and called for such a time as this. Grace Justified believes in hand clapping, foot stomping old school church, where we run, dance, shout, and allow the Lord to use us while creating an unusual service for God to show up and rein in the mist of his people.

Recently nominated for 6 music awards, and being selected to be in the top tunes for the Rhythm of Gospel Awards upcoming compilation cd. Grace Justified just recently performed at the “Family, Faith, Freedom Tour with Senator Jason Rapert, and will be traveling to St Louis to perform with some of the national artist such as “Donnie McClurkin, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and many other at the National Church of God in Christ Holy Convocation on November 5th.

Grace Justified is currently holding #1,#2, & #4 on the Reverb National Gospel Charts. Grace Justifies has represented Arkansas well.

First Listen: Teenage Wildlife – Come On & Shoot

    1969352_710410852366987_4465625263675591522_n

‘Come On and Shoot’, an intricately layered track boasting smouldering vocals and an infusion of electronica, is the latest offering from London based musician John Wright.

Based in Shoreditch, this multi-instrumentalist has been making music for his

own enjoyment “forever”, but through his successful career as a respected filmmaker and photographer, regularly working with Sony Music and some of the world’s most iconic musicians, John Wright received the encouragement he needed to release his music as ‘Teenage Wildlife’.

Priding himself on an entirely self-sufficient approach to his music, John writes, plays and records drums, bass, guitar and keys in his attic studio, creating stunning sonic backdrops, seamlessly blending hip hop and dance with melodic dub to produce unique genre-crossing soundscapes. His compositions have appeared on fashion films for Fendi and Dior and he recently directed ‘Savile Row is Rock N Roll’ a short film for GQ’s featuring some of Britain’s most iconic musicians, collaborating on its soundtrack with Paul Weller, Johnny Marr and Duran Duran’s John Taylor.

A pair of singles released earlier this year, ‘Last Great Love Affair’ and ‘Most Beautiful Thing’, received worldwide airplay and had the likes of Netsky and One Direction’s Harry Styles taking to social media to praise them. Despite this success, John’s background remains his primary motivating force. “I had a pretty rough upbringing” he explains. “I think the term is ‘underprivileged’. I designed Teenage Wildlife as a vehicle to express myself musically and I use the funds I raise to support charities that help underprivileged young people.”

The impressively crafted and perfectly produced ‘Come On and Shoot’ will certainly take Teenage Wildlife to an even wider audience, creating huge anticipation for debut album ‘The Degenerate Art Exhibition’ slated for release in spring 2015.

Daily Dose: Cyrille Oheix & Susana Marquez – You Must Be Strong

    youmustbestrong

Original song by Cyrille Oheix “Growen” (from France) and Susana C. Marquez (from Spain).

“This is our song tribute in honor of victims of domestic violence around the world. Enough is enough! Nobody deserves to be abused! For all these victims, survivors, and families whose lives have been marked and the support for those still affected. The problem of domestic violence will not go away until we get awareness about it, confront it, and work together to eliminate it! This is an issue that can be eradicated! We must all help to build a culture of respect and love in the whole world.” – Susana C. Marquez.

“You Must Be Strong” (Lyrics by Susana C. Marquez):
    What a fool I was
It took so long to realize.
I am just trying to hold on
    one more day.

    I am getting old
It wasn’t what I was Expecting
I won’t waste another day more
    Everything will change.

    I choose to live and
    I choose to fight
    I choose to leave
    my pain behind.

    I choose be free and
    I choose to shine
    I choose to give
    the best myself.

I choose to laugh rather than cry,
for all injustices of this world!
    You must be strong!

    Was I fool for love
feeling me motionless at his will.
    I’m breaking this silence,
    leaving my past behind.

    I am getting old
It wasn’t what I was Expecting
I won’t waste another day more
    Everything will change.

    I choose to live and
    I choose to fight
    I choose to leave
    my pain behind.

    I choose be free and
    I choose to shine
    I choose to give
    the best myself.

I choose to laugh rather than cry,
for all injustices of this world!
    You must be strong!

    I choose to live and

    I choose to leave

Cooking Vinyl Reveals Peter Andre Christmas Album

Cooking Vinyl and British supermarket chain Iceland have agreed a major sync deal that puts a new Christmas song from Peter Andre at the heart of the retailer’s big Christmas ad campaign. The track is taken from Andre’s new Christmas album, ‘White Christmas’ which will be exclusively sold through Iceland marking the first time that the company has ever carried music in its chain of over 800 stores.

As the new face of Iceland, Andre has been appearing in a series of TV commercials for the company, and building on this Cooking Vinyl, his management and Iceland worked closely together to come up with something extra special for the Christmas period.

The result is an integrated campaign that sees the use of a new original song “Christmas Time’s For Family”, written by Andre and fellow CV Publishing signing Stevie Appleton, as the soundtrack to the series of ten and 30 second adverts, which are being aired across all major channels. The track recently received its first radio airplay on Paddy McGuiness’ Sunday show on Bauer Radio, and is currently available to preorder ahead of its official release on December 8th.

‘White Christmas’ will be sold across Iceland stores from the 11th November, with Andre’s recent Top 25 album ‘Big Night’ also made available to buy. As well as “Christmas Time’s For Family”, the album sees Andre covering such classics as “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”, “White Christmas”, “Last Christmas” and “Jingle Bell Rock”. Full tracklist below.

John Black of CAN Management noted: “Pete’s music is his biggest passion, so to be able to tie that into this project has been amazing. It’s also fantastic that Iceland really believe in him as an artist in driving sales of music in their stores for first time.”

The deal is one of a number of heavyweight sync placements made following the appointment of Cooking Vinyl Head of Sync Verity Griffiths six months ago. This includes the use of Adam Cohen’s track “We Go Home” as part of Vodafone’s “Tokio Calling” campaign in Germany, The Prodigy’s “Invaders Must Die” on Guinness’ new Africa campaign, and placements for Marilyn Manson, The Virginmarys, The Pretty Reckless, Calling All Cars, 65daysofstatic and Treetop Flyers.

Verity Griffiths said: “The diversity of talent across Cooking Vinyl’s roster means we’re able to offer companies and brands sync that are bespoke for their campaigns. In this sense working with Peter and the team at Iceland has been fantastic, and with so many more sync opportunities to explore for our artists and writers the months ahead look very exciting as well.”

Martin Goldschmidt, MD of Cooking Vinyl added: “These deals really demonstrate the great work that Verity has been doing since joining us, and I’m positive that this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of growing our sync activity.”

Peter Andre is an accomplished global media star known for his successful music and television career, including numerous #1 hit singles, two #1 albums and a multitude of TV projects. Music has always been his first passion though, and the recent release of his new big band/soul inspired album ‘Big Night’ has seen him move in a new direction that may not have been expected, but is exactly where he wants to be musically.

Released in May through his own label Andre Music, via Cooking Vinyl, the album chartered at #23 in the UK Official Album Chart and was followed by a recent 23 date UK tour. In another significant sync for the team, first single “Kid” was chosen to be the official song for the DreamWorks animated movie Mr Peabody and Sherman, as well as featuring in the TV advertising campaign.

    White Christmas tracklist:

    1. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
    2. Let It Snow

Daily Dose: Ylium – Interstellar Collapse

    yliumdailydose

Eager to broaden their musical horizons by experimenting beyond simple electrical instruments and by virtue of a growing interest on the part of Alessandro Cavazzana in IDM, the band begins to program computers and set up drum machines to incorporate these devices during the sessions in the rehearsal room. Guitars, bass and drums are not absolutely set aside, since the ultimate goal is always to give birth to a perfect match between what you plan and what you play.

The result of all this is “Empire of Light”: an album that mixes experimental rock, electronica and some avant-garde. Although the background music of reference is essentially British and German contemporary, there are elements of new wave , 70’s krautrock, Miles Davis and some minimalist composers of our time, such as Steve Reich. The processing of the disc began in the summer of 2012, the period in which they recorded and mixed the first three tracks, which initially were part of a self-produced and and self-distributed EP, which was released in February of 2013.

They then composed a dozen songs, with five of these, along with three Ep tracks, included in the album Empire Of Light, which was completed in February 2014. Empire of Light was recorded mainly in Treviso. Two songs, A Bit Skeptical and Bad, were recorded in 2012 at the Synchro Studio in Adria by Giordano Sandalo – sound engineer who has more than ten years working experience – thanks to winning a contest for bands in which the group participated in July 2011 with their previous musical project.

“Your Life In Unique Meaning” (the title is the dissolution of Acronym YLIUM) is the first single from the Venetian duo: ” It stems from an attempt to re arrange an old piece of the previous group”, explains Alessandro Cavazzana “trying to propose it as a kind of counterpoint to instrumental guitar, drum machines and wind instruments, and then using it for personal projects; but when Marco and Giulio heard it, they got very intrigued and decided to work on it all together. It took several months to be finalized, but after a work of almost a year, in May, 2013, Unique Meaning in Your Life was ready .”

Ylium are Alessandro Cavazzana and Marco Rodella. In 2012, after playing several years in a garage rock band – together with Giulio Ramazzina, who then left the project – they started to bring electronic devices into the rehearsal room . The result is represented by eight tracks that would form Empire Of Light, their debut album: a mix of experimental rock, drum machines and avant-garde music.

Chilean Producer Statickman Creates Synth Masterpiece

Kiev maybe the epicenter of massive civil unrest at the moment, but it is also the name of Ummagma’s new release, and ultimately a message of hope. The two-time Alternative Eurovision winners rise above the decay and mayhem encountered in Ukraine to embrace diversity and beauty, while taking their music in new directions.

Ummagma formed in Moscow in 2003 with Canadian Shauna McLarnon and Ukrainian Alexx Kretov consistently writing and recording music whilst living between Ukraine and Canada. Shauna’s delicate airy gossamer-like vocals hold glimmers of Cocteau Twins, Stereolab, The Sundays, Curve, Lush, and Slowdive. Alexx’s guitar, vocals, synths, beats and programming create cinematic soundscapes with elements of Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Bill Nelson and Brian Eno, enabling the listener to soar above the music.

Despite heavy turmoil in Ukraine, Ummagma look forward to a brighter future for Eastern Europe. In ‘Kiev’, this Canadian-Ukrainian team celebrates their freedoms, exploring the root of today’s problems to create beauty in the face of hostility. The outcome shows that what is the end for one person may be the start for another. Even more importantly, it shows that beauty can blossom even in the midst of ugliness.

The duo has received support from Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins) and Malcolm Holmes (OMD), who have remixed tracks for forthcoming release.

This release is an impressive package featuring the original track ‘Kiev’ plus 9 remixes from 9 fantastic artists from as many countries, celebrating the splendour of the original composition in their own unique styles.

One of these remixers is José Luis Quezada Seguel, better known as Statickman, who is an indie dance, electro and nu-disco music producer based in Santiago, Chile who has preserved the beauty of Ummagma’s ‘Kiev’ whilst creating his own stunning soundscape. “With remixes, I let it flow from the voices or the melody of the original track” He explains. “I always try to run from original ideas and deliver new visions of their starting point.” Statickman defines his creative output as a journey through time in which he connects to modern music from a retro viewpoint, describing it as “the truest style of science fiction”.

For over 13 years, Statickman has been experimenting and translating his ideas by following in the best traditions of masters such as Giorgio Moroder, Yaz (Yazoo), Erasure, Kraftwerk, Patrick Cowley, Visage, Depeche Mode, and Jean Michel Jarre, with musical styles spanning from the 70s to the 90s. He strives to take his audiences along with him on his musical journeys. “Disco, electro, synth wave, some times with cyber punk touch, these are always gradual starting very dainty, trying to recreate an atmosphere full of good vibes and gradually come up till get a cruise speed that allows the audience to trip anywhere.”

Since 2012, Statickman has been extraordinarily prolific, releasing music through 8 different record labels, including Emerald & Doreen Recordings. This includes 2 LPs, 10 EPs and many remixes, the most notable one being for legendary nu-disco electro pioneer Alexander Robotnick.

The Satisfactors On The 57th GRAMMY Ballot

Award-winning Songwriter Gar Francis together with Bruce Ferguson wrote songs for the band The Satisfactors and their first single was approved on the Final list of the 57th Grammy Awards’ Ballot with the following Entries:
    • Best Rock Song: “Johnny Commando”
    • Best Arrangement, Instruments/Vocals “Johnny Commando”

JOHNNY COMMANDO is a tribute to the legendary guitarist Johnny Ramone. Johnny as we all know was the driving force behind the raw kinetic energy of the Ramones. This is the first official release by the Long Branch, New Jersey based Punk/Rock band THE SATISFACTORS. Produced by Kurt Reil and Gar Francis for Bongo Boy Records. The single and the upcoming album were recorded, mixed, and mastered at the House Of Vibes in Highland Park , New Jersey.

Their self-titled album is now out on Bongo Boy Records.

Music critic and reviewer Rich Quinlan(JerseyBeat) wrote “ “Johnny Commando” is the stand out track here. It’s a loving tribute to the legendary Johnny Ramone that sums his life and personality up perfectly when Ferguson says, “You broke down the doors with a buzzsaw slam/never gave in to all the glitz and glam”, while Gar Francis captures Johnny’s likeness with ripping guitar work. It is a perfectly fitting salute to the godfather of punk guitar. JerseyBeat –

“A wonderful ride back to New York City’s 1970′s punk heyday. Bruce Ferguson (The Easy Outs) delivers kick ass vocals, with inflections and nuances that remind me of Joey Ramone. The guitar is simple, yet driving, with a dynamite riff and solo. The chorus is fabulous, driving me to rock and bop as I listened. The harmonies are perfectly punk, the transitions amazing, and the hook kills. Produced by Kurt Reil (The Grip Weeds) and Jersey’s godfather of garage, Gar Francis, what else should I have expected? This song is punk in all its glory.” Review by Bobby Gottesman – Can’t Believe My Earz

Daily Dose: Sen – Strength and Kindness

    senfrontcoverforwebsite

This bass line, borrowed from the Cedar Walton tune “Bolivia”, has stuck with me.
It is elegant and perfectly designed for a bass, open strings sixths and dominant seventh notes. The intent for this song was to use this line throughout the piece while changing the harmony. Here, the A section is open for the horns to improvise a melody.

    About Sen:
As the bandleader, my job is to develop a musical style, compose in that style and guide the interpretation of the compositions. The goal for this project was to perform music that was both written in “parts” and also meant for improvisation.

“Parts” music is played by reading notes on a page; this can sometimes be complex and can require much concentration. It is found in many types of music, including classical, pop, musical theater, big band and more. The challenge is to make the music sound alive and fresh every performance even though the musician has performed it the say way hundreds of times. With Somebody Else’s Nightmare, some of the “parts” change from performance to performance – for example, some compositions demand that the musicians improvise their own melody. To do this, they must listen closely to what the others are doing and adjust.

During performance, chord patterns might change. Also, I might cue in new sections while the piece is evolving, much like an audible called from the quarterback in football. In my mind, this is musical fun for both player and listener.

    Naylor’s Notes: Codie Prevost

On stage his presence is energy filled, and full of life.  While getting to know his crowd from the very 1st song, he invites everyone to sing along.  Professionally dynamic in all that he does musically, off stage his attention is on his wife who is expecting their first baby in November. Codie Prevost is, “Professionally dynamic, with awesome stage presence, who is a musical professional by day, and a family man by night.”  Get to know more about Codie, and check out what he had to say during our interview.

When did you start performing music?
I started performing at age 14. A couple of buddies and I started a punk rock band during high school and we covered songs by Blink 182, Green Day, and other punk rock groups. We had a lot of fun.

    Which instruments do you play?
I play Guitar and Harmonica. I always wanted to learn to play piano for the purpose of song writing. I may still do that in the near future.

Describe your music interests and abilities.
I am interested in a wide variety of music from Augustana to Keith Urban to older classic Country. Being involved in the music industry has really led me to appreciating all types of music. There is nothing better than going out and seeing an acoustic show or hearing a new band perform live. My strengths in music are song writing and performing. I have always loved to write songs and then play them for a live audience. It has really helped me learn what works and what doesn’t by watching the crowd’s reactions. To me there is nothing better than connecting with people through music.

    What famous musicians inspire you?
Some of my inspirations include Keith Urban, Eric Church, Augustana, Train, Matthew West to name a few. In music the one thing for me as a songwriter is to keep an open mind to new melodies and ideas, which explains the wide variety of musical influences.

What is some of your best musical memories?
In high school two buddies and I had a punk rock band called “Blind Hem”. We would learn the intro to about 5 songs and think that sounded so good that we would forget to learn the rest of the song. We had our first opportunity to perform at a school assembly and all we could play were those 5 intros. Thinking back now it was the shortest show I ever played. Good times.

What public events do you have coming up?
We just finished a tour with Ducks Unlimited Canada, which was incredible to be a part of. I have a handful of concerts from now till Christmas. My wife and I are preparing for the arrival of our first baby in November so things are very exciting around home! I will be writing for another upcoming album as well as finishing all the planning for 2015. With tours to Australia, USA, and Canada.  There are a lot of plans to finalize.

What would you say to beginners to the industry, who are nervous?
I would say get out and perform wherever you can. I remember starting out and being so nervous but I just jumped in. If I wouldn’t have, then who knows where I would be today. You will get nervous, but that is all part of the journey.

“Don’t be afraid to say yes, and take every opportunity that comes your way.”  “You never know where it will lead.”

How do you balance your music with your family and friends?
I’ve been very lucky to have a supportive family when it comes to my music. They have been there from day one. This definitely makes it easier to be an artist. I’ve always been surrounded by people who’ve encouraged me to keep going and I think that is very important in this industry, because they will keep pushing you to be better and further yourself. When I am off the road I love to spend time with my wife, and catch up with friends. I always make a point of doing those things.

Should we be expecting anything new to be released?
I’ll be starting to work on new music very soon with hopes of releasing something from a new album in early 2016! For me going into the studio and making music is such an exciting time, because you get to hear the songs come to their full potential, and take on a new life!

Do you get nervous before a performance?
I always have an initial bit of nervousness, but once I get on stage and get to know the crowd, all the nervousness disappears. The nervousness disappears a lot faster now than when I first started performing in front of a crowd.

    Do you attend jam sessions?
I’ve attended some jam sessions and I think the best jam sessions are the ones that were not planned and sorta just happen. I recall performing a concert one evening with a few other artists on the bill. An artist by the name of Blake Berglund was there, and at the end of the night we ended up playing songs until 2 a.m.. We kept in touch after that concert and eventually ended up touring together for a few months. Jam sessions are a great place to meet other musicians and artists.

    Is your family musical?
My mom and my uncle would perform at various family functions. I remember seeing the joy music could bring to people when everyone else was singing and having a great time. It was those times that encouraged me to become an artist.

How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
I just keep on rolling. For the most part about 90% of the time nobody in the crowd recognizes the mistakes so you just make a mental note of it, so you don’t make the same mistake again, and keep on going like it didn’t happen.

“Don’t be afraid of making mistakes.”
