    Queensland’s Dubarry Release Album Details and More

    Queensland ambient electro/dub crew Dubarray have released their brand new filmclip for the first taste of their album ‘Visions Collide’. The Sunshine Coast based band have been taking their show all over Europe and Australia in the wake of their debut album ‘Ebb & Flow’ in 2012 and are now following it up in October with their new full-length.

    The filmclip is for the moody electro track ‘Depth of Perception’, a dark, fast-paced, junglistic track that gets the pulse racing and the mind wandering all at once. The deep tribal beat is overscored by the hypnotic voice of Kate Gadenne. The visuals for the filmclip take the viewer on a flame-twirling, strobe-lit journey.

    Dubarray are inspired by the likes of St Germain, Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Portishead & Moloko. June 2012 saw the band release their debut album ‘Ebb & Flow’ and set off on a massive 6 month European tour. They backed up that trip with a 3 month tour in 2013 and a 6 month tour in January 2014. Since the release of their debut album in 2012, DUBARRAY have been working hard on the road performing at major European festivals and teaming up with similar artists such as OKA & Loonaloop.

    They are finishing up the tour there now, in readiness for the Australian release of the album and a tour, to kick off in October 2014. The album will be released in late October and the Australian National tour will begin in November.

    Naylor’s Notes:

    Introducing: Brock Davisson
    I fired up the net-work, and poured my 1st cup of coffee. Something told me I was going to discover something beautiful today. I went to sit back down at my desk, and there he was, at the top of my time line, Brock Davisson.

    The video was shared by: Blackie Starks. Front man for Maximus, who is signed with CBM_Records. I already know that Blackie, has a natural taste for good talent. I viewed it, shared it, and loved it! Brock, already had over 35 shares at the time, and he liked his own video that was shared too The 1st Shot Music Timeline. I couldn’t believe it! And so I shot him a friend request.

    He accepted it, and it wasn’t soon after we started rapping. Here check it out!

    When did you start playing, and where are you from?
    Growing up in Marietta, Ohio. I began playing in 1992, thanks to my brother who wanted a mo-ped but Dad didn’t think it was safe enough for him yet, so he went and bought an old Silver tone guitar with a battery operated Harmony amp. Of course we didn’t know what to do with it, so it stayed under the bed for 6 months or so until something hit us and that was the band Nirvana… I still give them credit for getting me into music along with my Dad. I got into Metal like Metallica & Megadeth. Later I journeyed into the blues such as: Stevie Ray Vaughan and BB King. Then I explored Shred Kings like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

    Which instruments do you play?
    I mainly play electric guitar of course, but I have and do dabble in keyboard/synths and bass sometimes. Sure, I try to sing even if I sound like a frog ha-ha. I’ll give a shot at anything that makes sounds basically ha-ha.

    Describe your musical interests and abilities.
    Well I’m interested in it all ha-ha. The more you soak up the better you are in the end, even if you don’t use it. I love vinyl/records. I used to have a collection of 2,000 a few years back but ended up selling them due to needing money. I just got back into it again and have around 58 records now and more are coming I’m sure lol. What are my abilities? Well, I’m not sure… I’m able to make you rock, cry, or like me. Some may hate me ha-ha: P

    What famous musicians inspire you?
    I could be here for day’s lol. As I said in the beginning it was nirvana and then metal kings like Metallica/Megadeth and what not. I still jam to those off and on still, but I grew up and evolved into the blues later. Right now I am very inspired by Johnny Winter (Who just died, R.I.P.) and Otis Rush, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and a lot of bands that do the whole stoner-rock/doom-rock/psychedelic-rock, old and new.

    What is some of your best musical memories? Say at your house or in your neighborhood. The 1st memory ever made in front of a crowd. You choose the direction.
    Well this one time I was drunk (when i used to drink many moons ago ha-ha). My brother and I, along with 2 friends were in my parent’s garage. We ended the night by going back into me and my brother’s room. I wheel into the bathroom, shut the door, and use the restroom. All of a sudden I’m lying on the ground, flipped backwards in my wheelchair.

    Now this was told by my brother and 2 friends as I don’t remember doing that being wasted and all ha-ha. Apparently, they heard a thud and go in and pick me back up. I end up doing it again! I was trying to get off the door, but my wheelchair was hitting the wall, and I was popping wheelies, and tipping backwards ha-ha. That is a great memory!

    The other great memory is being on stage for the 1st time. This was back in June of 2010. I get this call from Jeremiah Welch, on Facebook. I never talked to him before, but he got my number somehow and was interested in me playing music with him, and his band.

    They had a Jerry Garcia 25th B-day bash gig to attend without a lead guitar player… so we talked, and I ended up going to 2 practices with them, and ended up on the stage for the first time. I did a one hour set with them. I was so freaking nervous but it was fun!

    What public events do you have coming up?
    Well I’d like to say I had something coming up but I don’t. I’m only semi-famous on Facebook right now ha-ha. Although I did get word that David B. Wells wants me to jam with him during a jazz festival that is local around here in September. I haven’t gave my word on that as of yet. Right now the only event is just promoting myself online as much as possible, and trying to get people to believe in me and help contribute to my “Make a CD” fund called: Little Man With Big Dreams.

    What would you say to starting musicians, who are nervous?
    Keep being nervous, it makes you or breaks you, and if it breaks you, well then maybe it wasn’t meant to be? No seriously, never give up even if you are nervous. I’ve been playing 22 years and still get nervous lol. Learn all that you can, play in front of people as often as you can, and the nervousness will subside.

    How do you balance your music with your family and friends?
    Easy…. My friends and family include my Guitar, along with the music I listen too ha-ha…. On a serious note, I don’t get out much and don’t have too many close friends. I have tons of “friends” online, but not many that I do anything with, since i don’t get out much. It’s an easy balance, unless I start getting popular and partying like a rock-star….. NOT! lol.

    Should we be expecting anything new? If so give info.

    Liverpool’s Paddy Clegg Releases ‘Dancing Shoes’

    Paddy Clegg, an emerging Solo artist, takes self-sufficiency to new levels. Not only does he write his own music, he records, mixes, and masters everything, retaining total artistic control over his musical output. A feat that is all the more remarkable considering Paddy is just seventeen years old.

    From a very young age the teenager has had a passion for music. He was a drummer in several bands before picking up a guitar in 2013 and beginning to write his own material, recording in his bedroom and later gigging in and around the Liverpool area. Paddy quickly earned praise from the city’s music journalists and bloggers, which led to him signing with SWC Artist Management.

    At the beginning of 2014, Paddy released his infectiously catchy debut single ‘Back to the Start’. The track was received very positively, receiving regular airplay on radio stations across the north west of England.
    Paddy’s sound has drawn comparisons to The La’s, and Jake Bugg, yet he retains his own musical identity and is making a name for himself through his hugely accomplished musical compositions which belie his youth.

    Allstar Nation Tour and Boy Band “IM5” on Tap in Milwaukee

    The Allstar Nation Tour , in collaboration with the Stand Up Tour, will host a concert featuring popular boy band “IM5” and several other young national recording artists at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19 at the Miramar Theater in Milwaukee.

    The Allstar Nation Tour is an anti-bullying music tour based in Houston that features recording artists ages 12 to 20 who perform and speak out against bullying. Artists are well-known among their peers and perform Top 40 and original songs. Between performances, they speak out against bullying, share personal experiences and bullying prevention methods.

    “IM5” is a five-member boy band co-founded in 2012 by Spice Girls and American Idol creator Simon Fuller, creative director Jamie King, and blogger and television personality Perez Hilton.

    The band fuses pop and rhythm and blues melodies with vocal harmonies and dance routines. Members include Cole Pendery, 18, of Dallas, Texas; Will Jay Behlendork, 18, of Los Angeles; Gabriel Morales, 19, of Miami, FL; Dana Vaughns, 16, of Pittsburgh, PA; and David Scarzone, 18, of Chicago, Illinois.

    “Everything About U,” the band’s first digitally released song, caught the attention of Radio Disney programming directors, who put the song in rotation lasting the year. The band has headlined multiple Radio Disney Live events and was recently nominated for a Radio Disney Music Award for Ultimate Breakout Star.

    Five other artists are scheduled to perform. Among them include Texas natives Branden Mendoza, 20, who competed on NBC’s The Voice Season 6 held earlier this year; pop singer Tristan Blaine, 15, a fan favorite who refer to themselves as “Blaniacs”; The House on Cliff  band, a high energy, feel-good rock band from Boston; Nashville recording artist Jessie Chris, 16, who has opened for several country stars such as Chris Young and Ayla Brown; and Australian-born Danielle Prou , 13, of Los Angeles, who is often compared to Alicia Keys.

    General Admission tickets are $15.00 each. Fans can also purchase “Gold Circle” tickets for $99.00 each and includes the exclusive opportunity to meet all the music artists during a private meet-and-greet session with all performers at 4:30 p.m. on the artist tour bus. A limited number of VIP passes will also be available for $30.00 each and includes early entry into the concert with an opportunity to meet the artists prior to the concert. Doors for the concert open to the general public at 6:00 p.m.

    It Lies Within, who recently finished up their tour run with One Year Later that included a stop at Driven Fest, is currently on the Music Over Matter Tour with Curses. The tour, which is sponsored by Music Over Matter, began August 1st in Toledo, OH at Frankie’s and will end August 17th in Gorard, OH at The Crawlspace. The tour will hit ten states during the span of seventeen days. It Lies Within is still touring off their 2012 release, Chrysalis (Luxor Records), while finishing work on their new album.     Jahna Sebastian Hot New Single Now Available

    UK based Singer/Songwriter Jahna Sebastian and The Lost Enemy’s hot new single “One And A Million” is now available on iTunes. Jahna Sebastian collaborated with The Lost Enemy (which consists of three emcees/rapper Snowman, Denero and Boogie) a few months back and released the music video for “One And A Million”, which debuted on popular hip hop website All Hip Hop. The video was directed and edited by Kevin Hudson and garnered nearly 36,000 views.

    Ms. Sebastian and The Lost Enemy met at a live show and immediately connected becoming part of the Lock Stock and Two Smoking Sounds Crew. With the group’s talents in mind the sultry singer produced arranged, recorded and mixed and wrote the chorus for “One And A Million” in her London studio Multivizion Music. “One And A Million” with its catchy hook and powerful beats is already buzzing in the streets of London.     First Listen: NEW SINGLE FROM THE SLOW READERS CLUB

    Following the success of their most recent single ‘Start Again’, Manchester based Indie/electro band The Slow Readers Club are back with ‘Don’t Mind’, a beautifully introspective ballad that details the end of a relationship.

    As singer Aaron Starkie explains “Lyrically the song concerns the limbo period that can be experienced at the end of a relationship. One of you has already called it a day and the other hasn’t let go; it’s in a half dead state. One of our favourite songs is ‘I Know It’s Over’ by The Smiths which has a similar theme, that was probably an influence.

    It started with the keyboard riff, and vocal, the melody came in one go from start to finish, that rarely happens but often the best songs are those that come so easily.
    We kept the song sparse and musically intimate. It took a long time to write the lyrics, I was still working on them in the recording studio! The chorus came to me in the studio reception ‘I stood outside your mothers house I watched you from afar, I found it hard to breathe. A solitary figure standing lonely in the dark, I’ll always be’. It felt like I had found the heart of the song.”


    The Slow Readers Club’s critically acclaimed debut album, released in May 2012, received airplay on BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, NME, Q Radio, NME TV, Sky Sports, Soccer am and ITV, drawing comparisons with Interpol, The Killers and Arcade Fire. The band’s innovative music videos have received widespread media attention with 2012’s ‘Block Out The Sun’ singled out to feature on Coldplay’s website.

    The upcoming video for ‘Don’t Mind’ illustrates the theme of the song perfectly with Steve Coogan’s niece Mary Joanna Coogan, herself the vocalist with Mary Joanna & The Southern Electrikk, playing a young woman ending a relationship with her heartbroken boyfriend, played by Stephen Evans (ex Twisted Wheel).

    Atlanta Hip-hop Artist, The Husel, Releases “Greatest”

    Rising Atlanta Hip-Hop Artist, The Husel, has dropped the third single from his awaited mixtape “Husel Music,” launching in August. The release of “Greatest” follows two other singles the artist dropped, “Grindin” and “Generate.”

    While both “Generate” and “Grindin” center around themes of making the best out of the daily grind, “Greatest” has a different focus aimed to appeal to the ladies. This latest track sings the praise of a woman with a catchy rhythm and chorus. The infectious tune is just an example of the range of music that can be expected from The Husel’s upcoming mixtape. The project will also feature collaborations with T. Pain, Bone Crusher, Cash Out, Fred the Godson and other artists.

    The Husel has been making headlines lately in hip-hop and urban circuits as “Atlanta’s New Hip-Hop Powerhouse” using hard hitting 808’s, snaps, claps, and hi-hats to create music that inspires and motivates.     Revenge Killed Mary Jane release new single: “Your Ship’s Ashore”

    Revenge Killed Mary Jane release first single since signing with Dali Van Gogh Music entitled “Your Ship’s Ashore” from their upcoming album “Scarecrow”.

    Revenge Killed Mary Jane (RKMJ), hot off their recent signing with Dali Van Gogh Music (DVGM) have completed tracking of their debut album “Scarecrow” and have released their first single “Your Ship’s Ashore” as a pre-release. “To me [Your Ship’s Ashore] is one of our more radio friendly songs”, says drummer Sean O’Grady on the piece. “It has a light start and drops into a heavier chorus and with two guitar solos. You can’t go wrong. It’s one of my favorite tunes to play live.” The song is one of the bands more recent compositions on an album that spans the course of 14 years of writing for vocalist Jawn Macdonald. “Well it wasn’t really inspired by anything in particular, “ said Jawn when asked what his inspiration for the lyrics were, “but if I were to attach meaning to it, it would be about falling to the bottom and picking yourself back up to the top. About you beating the odds. Yeah that sounds right.”

    Jawn’s cousin Liege Macdonald, bassist for the band, says the song came about very naturally: “[Your Ship’s Ashore] began with Jarred just playing the opening guitar riff. Sean and I started playing along, Jawn started singing random lyrics and it all evolved in to the song right then and there.” Producer and DVGM owner Isaac Kent is extremely pleased with the progress of the album, and the release of the single: “This is the song that made me want to sign the band,” said Kent. “When the band showcased for me they played this as one of their last songs because they weren’t sure it was album worthy. I nearly jumped out of my seat! After we recorded it, they finally got to hear what I was hearing and loved it.” Kent continued on the progress of the album as a whole: “This record has been a breeze to produce.

    The band is super tight live, and all I wanted to do was capture that. They have a certain energy about their songs when they are just raw and out there with nothing between you and the music, and thats how we’ve approached recording and mixing the album. No click tracks, no major editing. We did almost the entire record in two takes off the floor. A couple overdubs here and there and BAM, we had an album.

    The album itself is still in the mixing and mastering stage and will be released with a live show at Montes Showbar and Grill (245 Waverley Rd, Dartmouth, NS) on Friday, August 15th. The event also features Impact Eleven and Vicious as supporting acts, and begins at 10:00pm. Admission is $6.00.

    The Sultry Trumpeter Isaac Byrd, Jr. releases new single “Meek” featuring guitarist Nils

    Taking what he calls an unorthodox approach to the trumpet, Isaac Byrd Jr. plays changes in a unique way and uses his instrument to paint a picture and tell a story. Playing what he has branded as “the sultry trumpet like no other”, the versatile, multi-talented Jacksonville, FL based artist finds a compelling, groove centered and ultra melodic way to chronicle and celebrate Life on his new CD. The collection marks his first recording with the Spectra Music Group.

    Byrd brings a rich and dynamic history as a jazz performer to his emergence in the contemporary urban jazz world. While he was influenced by trumpet greats like Wynton Marsalis and Terence Blanchard, he draws his rhythmic flair from the pianists and saxophonists he grew up admiring, from John Coltrane and Charlie Parker to Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau.

    The latest single by Isaac Byrd, Jr. is entitled “Meek” and features legendary guitarist Nils Jiptner. Nils’ success in the smooth jazz genre has somewhat obscured his dynamic background as a versatile R&B/ pop guitarist.     Ben Draiman was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and has been a singer-songwriter as well as a pianist from the young age of 13 years old. Heavily influenced by a wide variety of music and styles, his music can best be described as strong, emotional, melodic rock, fusing the softness of the piano along side the intensity and roughness of electric guitar.

    There is a special depth in his lyrics that cover a variety of topics from the deeply personal to the philosophical. He has been performing more intensively over the past 4 years in the local music scene.

    His performances as well as his music’s unique intensely emotional and authentic style has set him apart from many other artists and has continued to draw larger audiences over the years all across the age demographic. His single “Soon Enough” which was released separately last year in anticipation of his 6-Track EP, released later this year, was on regular rotation on 94X in British Columbia, placing number 91 of the top 94 songs of 2011,

    Polar Echo Releases New LP “One”

    The alternative rock artist known as Polar Echo has released his definitive new LP, “One.” The album is composed of ten original tracks, plus an acoustic version of “Fire in Your Eyes” and a bonus track, “Touch the Sky,” for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been released on the Timlin Records independent music label. Smooth and groovy, both pleasantly casual and deeply striking, “One” is an album with something for listeners of every genre all over the world.

    Polar Echo (born Mikhail Mikhailov) cites as main artistic influences such legendary musicians as Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, Muse, Snow Patrol, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, and Bob Dylan. Of these, Polar Echo’s “One” LP has most in common with Coldplay and Snow Patrol, sharing the emotional intensity of both, as well as the inclusion of widely varied tones and tempos. Showcasing Polar Echo’s naturally impeccable vocals and tastefully subtle singing style, “One” also brings some of the best songwriting on or off the airwaves.

    Speaking of the sound of his record, Polar Echo writes, “My music was written in many moods at different times and under various musical influences. It is rock, sometimes with implementation of electronic, sometimes folk- or country-sounding with a tinge of post-Britpop (thanks to Coldplay).”

    Many of the songs on “One” have Polar Echo’s personal thoughts for major themes.

    “A lot of the songs talk about love and passion, like most of today’s artists,” he writes. “However some of what I write is about me seeking power to keep going, disregarding discouragement from people around me to keep trying. Particularly the songs ‘Off Course’ and ‘Fire in Your Eyes.’ Hope it helps listeners too. ‘Home’ talks about the concept of ‘home’ that disappears in one’s head over time, if one moves around quite a bit like I did myself.”

    Polar Echo recorded and produced “One” as a solo project, playing all the instruments himself: guitars, bass, drums, piano, and harmonica. He is involved with the Corvallis Guitar Collective (CGC) band in Oregon, and is currently collaborating with local musicians such as Ta Rungrojanaluck, Nathan Mayers, and Cornelius Wona.

    Belarus-born singer-songwriter Mikhail began his musical journey on piano, attending music school at the age of six. He won first place in a jazz competition at Minsk, Belarus at 11. He earned his International Baccalaureate in music by 19, and moved to Oregon to complete his first album by the age of 22. He is currently a student of Oregon State University.

    Worldwide Groove Corp Commence The “Year Of The Groove”, One Release A Month For A Year

    Worldwide Groove Corporation, Nashville’s electronic music power duo, have made the bold commitment of putting out one new downtempo chillout music release a month for a year.

    After 7 years of working for the “music” man, Worldwide Groove Corporation are going large and taking charge with a steady stream of new releases that will keep their fans happy for a long time. “Since our last album release, we’ve been working on our own music between jobs for other clients, and we’ve made this bold move to keep ourselves moving forward as artists,” says Ellen Tift, songwriter and arranger for WGC.

    The August release of their downtempo chillout song “Kiss Me Slow” featuring Italian rapper Kareem Bennett, marks the second month of their “Year of the Groove”. “This song has a mysterious vibe and a gritty edge with the electric guitars and synth bass, which makes it one of our more edgy sonic releases,” says Kurt Goebel, programmer and producer for WGC.     The last full record WGC released was their Chillodesiac Lounge, vol. 1: Fever album in 2007. This project featured their reinventions of well loved jazz standards into the downtempo electronica style. They garnered success with this record, being included in over a dozen compilations around the world and nabbing the #1 rank on the Sirius XM Chill station with their original instrumental track “Smoke & Mirrors,” outranking well known acts such as Moby, Thievery Corp, Portishead, and Zero 7 for two months. It will feature Tyler Perry’s drummer and recording-artist Brien Andrews; whose music can be heard frequently on Atlanta’s Jazz Station 91.9 FM WCLK. The celebration will climax at the main event the same night at Atlanta’s notable Apache Café at 10:00 p.m. Apache Café is located at 3rd Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30308. This event will feature the Grammy-award, winning-drummer Jeremy Haynes and drummer extraordinaire, Cedric “CJ” Thompson.
